Hey i think that shirt that says blow me is really cool.
I wanted to get one when i first saw it. But it was like 20$ and i don't really like buying clothing nevermind a 20$ shirt i won't be able to wear very often.

I still hear people say Nintendo failry often when refering to any nintendo product and generaly you can assume which system they mean.

I have mentioned Sophia on more than one occasion you know Wink
She is 3. We play Dora, Spongebob, Mario Kart, Super Mario 64 DS, Princess Peach, etc, etc she is still mastering the DS and Sp so we haven't moved onto console gaming. lol
She also likes anime(My Neighbor Totoro a Miyazaki film is her current fav) and Sprout(a station run by PBS).
Cute kid.

i dont mind THE sega, because a few years ago i was a say-er of THE sega.
So you can deal with any ignorance you use to have but have no tolerance for the ignorance other currently have?

Thats fair Wink Tongue(don't take offense just joking i know text and smilies don't always convey that so i am blatantly pointing it out.)

I always called it THE sega genesis.

I use to say Shang Tuhsung though
And i called coins from mario rings(i grew up mostly on sonic give me a break)
lol
But that is from a long ago time in a far away place.

I pretty much hate everything.

So yeah, people who say something is oldskool when it's from the nineties...PHAUGH!...bastards. Oldskool is like me falling of my horse and getting pissed and raising an army to go pillage Poland.

I don't know what I'm talking about either.

And Iz has a kid? Duuuuuuuuuuuude.

I think the worst is when people use the word "Nintendo" to describe ANY game system...although I do have some tolerance for it because I had to stoop to that level to explain what I was doing when my mom would ask...

Mom - "What are you doing?"
Me - "Playing Dreamcast."
Mom - "What the hell is that?"
Me - "Um...I'm playing Nintendo..."
Mom - "Oh, okay."

It's not that she means to be dumb, she just doesn't get into it.  You just gotta remember, people don't always know everything about your hobby, even if they have an interest.  Hell, I can't even identify a screwdriver by name except for a Phillips.  It's "flat head" or "square" or whatever...I know my dad gets irritated, but it's something that can be accepted.  Remember that Smiley

Pillage poland? lol
Are you german too?(If so i can join you on said pillage as my lineage would make it ok.)

The kid isn't mine, she is my girlfriends. I was 15(ish) when she was born.

Very good point with the tools.
Alot of people don't know because its not something they are into or spend time doing. My mother is fairly well educated about various gaming things because she wants to try and carry convos with me about them and even use to pick up some stuff for me when she went tagsaling.

But alas those days seem to be over :-/(I think she only bought me 2 or 3 small things from tagsales anyways.)

I don't care for the old skool term either.  I think Hot Topic is the reason for the NES prices going to crazy as of late.  So many n00bs have gotten into collecting that it is more about who has the most games than actually playing the games.  Anytime I hear someone call NES emo, I want to grrr stab them.  Emo and old retro gaming have no direct ties.

ok for a start what the chuff is emo???

As for this "old skool" shit things like this get banded about all the time generly by wankers that dont know shit about anything tere just trying to be diffrent, it all wears itsself out in a few years leaving all the people that were into it before back being happy that the fuckwits have gone.

As in i have 2 cars 1 is 23 years old the other 17 as most people rae wanker sthey just think there old and should be scrapped if i paint "retro wank" on the side dos that make them cool to them?

i tthink the only other thing i dont like about games is being done now the same as it was years ago and that in America you dont say THE in front of a consoles name, As in im playing SNES or sonic on Genisis (hate this name too) its just wierd!

People referring to NES as "Nintendo" or "old-school/skool Nintendo" or anything along that line drives me up a wall, but I have some serious issues with people who don't know how to pronounce things correctly (and this, in a very loose sense, fits under that category).  I have a friend who refers to rings as coins and vice versa just to tick me off, although I've gotten over that.

And I swear, if one more person mentions Duck Hunt to me when I tell them I have some older game consoles, I'm going to rip out their eyes.  Everyone played Duck Hunt as a kid.  We get it.  Shut up.

Also, I try to avoid buying game shirts unless it's just a game or company logo, so as to avoid the question "OMG DID U GET THAT AT HOT TOPIC I <3 THAT STORE LOLZ!!?!?!?!11!1!1one!1?!!".

My sister, who hasn't seriously played a Mario game since Super Mario World, bought a shirt the other day with a kind of faded, Abercrombie & Fitch-style picture of Mario on it.  All I can say is WTF.  Not only is that a horrible representation of Mario, it's a crappy use of a franchise to look cool or rebellious or whatever these kids are trying to project through this stuff.  I just think it's funny that the same kids who say "heh, SNES is so lame, I like my Xbox 360 cause it's uber-graphics pwnage x10" will wear a shirt that says "Mario + Mushroom = Big Mario".  Apparently contradiction is the new black.

Nothing like sitting in a game store and some 16 year old calling the Nintendo 64 old-school. Now that bugs the crap out of me more so than the NES. I've even heard kids talk about how the Dreamcast is a classic console and is some underground, leet piece of hardware. I'll give the DC props but my god, classic already? Embarrassing.

How do some of you feel about old school hip-hop or house? A DJ friend of mine complained about how I was calling some late 80's, early 90's house LPs I picked up the other day old school and was preaching about 70's being the foundation of the earlist house. I guess it's because I've never really experienced, let alone knew of an earlier existance without calling it disco or some electronica music. Maybe it's an interpretation error of music genres? No clue.

The fact retro game collecting has been branded as emo while really ticks me off comes as no surprise. The emo fad (not the music that none of the emo faders even listen too) has no identity. They simply steel everything. Their fashion sense is stolen from Goth and Punk. The music they listen to is anything, but because they like it, it has now become emo! The only new thing that they have even done that is new is the cutting themselves. But that is just censored retarded! I'll just leave that there though as if I start a rant against this stupid fad before the end I might as well change my avatar into Foamy the squirrel.

I still refer to Nintendo simply as Nintendo, but I was never a big follower so the fact I still see them as the same company now as back then really doesn't have any merit. I do refer to the old Sega as something different though as it truly isn't the same company. I mean heck, Sonic's creator isn't even with Sega any more the last I heard.

As a kid I got kind of annoyed how the Master System was pretty much called Sega. In retro spect it makes sense though, unless you are really into it, you won't know Sega is the company name. After all it was their 1st system here, and the Sega writing stood out way more and was a quicker easier word to use. Even if we pronounce Sega differently to the US. (We say it as Seega)

I find it quite amusing when people refer to N64 as old school.

As far as the Hot Topic thing, it doesn't bother me. I like wearing shirts of things I like. I'm not too concerned with what other people are buying I guess.

I've picked up a few sweet TMNT, Chip N Dale etc shirts there.
