I haven't been on the site much lately because I have been working from 8 am to 9-10 pm all summer.  I am really excited and nervous because I am up for a job that could support my family and let me see them as well.   I have been a substitute teacher at the same high school for two years and I am finally up for a real, contract position.  All of the what if questions are running through my head (what if I screw up, what if I don't get it, etc) and I just needed a place to vent.

I know I should get the job.  I've been there for 2 years.  I've done a good job in an field for which I had little education (I was teaching art for 2 years and I have a degree in english!).
But....
It is kind of complicated, I am not licensed to teach.  However, I am eligible for an alternative (or conditional) licensure that would permit me to teach....It would just depend on the district if they would want to take a "risk" with me.

I usually don't care about job shit.   I guess Im so nervous because I really need this.     Undecided

I'll post about whether or not it went well.

You'll do fine. Just get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast and be on your way. Just take a deep breath and clear your thoughts. The Interviewer knows you'll be nervous in advance, so just answer whatever questions he throws at you. Good luck man and I know what it's like to be in your shoes when it comes to supporting a family. Jobs aren't easy to come by now day's and sounds like this one could be a great one. Good luck once again. =)

Thank you. *bows*

Still, you can't see your family? That sounds kinda odd, like you're locked in the school and they only let you out of your cell to teach.

It's called doing what you have to do to get a full time contract job later.

Well, thanks everyone I really appreciate the support.

I found out earlier this evening that I got the job.  I'm really excited. I will be teaching a poetry class and a couple general junior English classes.  I'm really psyched about getting paid for something I really like.

What I was saying about not seeing my family was that, to survive financially, I've needed to work two jobs.  This has limited my time with my wife and kids since I have been working more hours than your typical 9 to 5.   Of course I get to see them, but, especially these last few months, it seems that I have been leaving before my kids wake up and get home after they've gone to bed. I hate that.

That's awsome...that's gotta be a huge weight off your shoulders.

I know exactly how you feel...went through the same thing just a few months ago.  I was only able to see my daughter on the weekends...and by then, I was too tired to send time with her.
