GameStop details PS3 preorders

"In-store program starts Tuesday morning; $100 deposit required, most stores expecting only eight systems."

"Starting Tuesday morning, GameStop and EB Games stores will begin accepting "limited" preorders for the system with a $100 deposit. The preorders are "limited" in that very few will be received, and customers will not be guaranteed a PS3 on its November 17 US launch day."

I have a problem with this..... It happened to me when I pre-ordered a 360 from Gamestop last year as well. I pre-ordered the system and did not get until months later grrr

Why the hell should we pre-order something if it does not guarantee us the item? Not like I care this time around, as I will wait until huge price drops on the PS3 before I buy it anyhow.

Thoughts on the article? pre-ordering?

Only 8 and most of those will be taken up by employees. Glad I can care less about getting one. I usually never preorder anything. The 360 was the first system I preordered. The only game I preordered was Steel Battalion.

"Most stores will receive a preorder allocation of eight units, while a few select stores will receive 16," a GameStop official said. "In either case, employee purchases will be restricted to a total of no more than two systems per store."

I dont see how they can regulate the emplyees so that they only purchase 2 per store. But lets face it. can a regular type counter jockey really afford to buy a PS3  Tongue

If that's what he wants, yes. If I had really wanted to buy a PS3 at launch I could, and I only make like $5 an hour. When I want something pricey I just save up for a few weeks and bam, it's mine. Of course paying for college changes spending policies, as does pirate ing cut out some.

I'm just wondering how long before we see the $100 claim receipts to get on ebay?...and on launch day, I'm wondering how many people get mugged/killed for the thing. Tongue

Hmm, I'd say probably about the same amount of people who get killed and mugged for anything else that costs $600.

Kotaku as of right now claims 18 preorder slips are already on sale on E-Bay, ranging from 1500 to one MILLION dollars.

"OWN THE RARE & HARD 2 FIND SONY PS3"

Okay, lets just pretend it wont go into mass production shall we? Undecided

I can't believe it's still got nine days to go, so that might not even be the max bid....
Tell you what, if the world was full of more people like these special bidders, I can guarantee the PS3's success.

It would be funny if you knew them and got a PS3 at the normal price just to rub it in Cheesy

Yea, I agree. Now it's who can get one to sell on E-bay, which I plan on doing because people are so stupid and impatient and can't wait to get one.  Man, things sure change.  I hate Gamestop so piss on them.

They are done taking pre-orders now.

I bet at least half of the people who pre-ordered the thing are putting it on ebay  Roll Eyes

I would guess more like 80-90% are going on Ebay.

If i had the money to get one it would totaly go up on eBay.

Oh yea and i use to know a kid who payed upwards of a grand for a 360 on ebay.

Rumor was approx or just over 1,500.
But he wouldn't admit howmuch over 1k he went.
