When I say introductory level I mean a level that introduces you to play mechanics.

For me I have to go with Megaman X. Not only was the highway sequence complete outstanding with parts of the highway breaking off, the helicoptor fights, and the encounter with Vile and Zero, the game simply showed off a more badass side to Megaman.

The first time playing Mario 64 back in '96 was truly awesome (for me), running around the outside of the castle learning all of Mario's moves and marveling at the beautiful (for the time) 3-D graphics...with no pixels!

Are you talking about the opening movie or the gameplay tutorial?

Mario 64 drew you in with handy hints on camera angles and jumps.  It didn't have you sitting there watching a movie like some final fantasy games nowadays

MGS was just so awesome, credits rolling as it taught you to be a badass sneaky snake.

Yeah, they suck. Some are great, for the first time, but replaying the game is a real chore if you first have to get through the introduction again. Having said that, Metal Gear Solid had a pretty neat intro.

I'd have to say 007 Nightfire, mixing it up between sniping from a helicopter and then cat and mouse pursuit behind the wheel of Bond's car all the while filling in the story and introduction to characters, very cinematic.

Opening credits of MGS. Awesome.

Meaning the introduction with the submarine, or the part where Snake ends the guards and gets on the elevator?

Ending the guards, of course.
