I was pulling out of my local post office today and this guy (who was speeding) drove by and smashed into my and tore the front bumper off my car. Luckily no one was hurt. The problem is I had a stop sign and he didn't so I'm responsible. So we were just getting the insurance information exchanged the cops show up. They file a report and I'm stuck with a $153.00 ticket. Now I'm lucky if my insurance doesn't drop me and just raises my payments. Before the accident I was paying $100 a month, now its probably going to be around $200 a month.

That sucks. It would be easy to say it's your own fault, but I can't say I always completely stop in front of a stop sign either.

But I do always look carefully to see if someone is coming.

In England, the cops would have asked if anyone was hurt, and then if you were both insured.  Then fucked off, and left you alone.

You could argue that ticket in court and probably win though but then its trying to find time and money instead of just money.

Nah, I can't argue it in court, I'm just going to go get it reduced, but still my insurance is going to blow.

No, I really doubt that your insurance will drop you.  It sucks that you have all of this BS to sort through now, though.

As for total insurance payments, count yourself lucky your only at 100 a month.  I'm paying $235 a month and I have a pretty much flawless driving record.  I loathe insurance.

Yeah, that and I drive a soft top Wrangler.  The funny thing is I've had my car broken into twice, but both times I was in a much nicer neighborhood.
