I wouldn't let my kids, if I had any, play some of those sort of games until they were in their teens actually.

What I woldn't do, is wait until my child, had gone with a spouse and spent their birthday money, and then take their purchase away from them.. That would really be mean.

I'd give them the $50 back, sort it out with the missus, and prolly give them the game back a few years later.

The whole thought of God and Satan being at work all the time is ridiculous. And thinking Satan works through that game to seduce her kid is just moronic. She ought to go to a mad house weekly, instead of a church.

That said, I don't think it's a very suitable game for a 9 year old.
