Due to the controversy over the price of a PS3, let's put it to a vote since we have a wide variety of hardcore and casual gamers on this site.

Under $200 for me.

Price is one thing, games are another. I'm a huge PS1 fan but when the PS2 came out I waited 5 years to get one, shortly after the Slims came out for $149.99.

PS3 would be the same thing, my tastes in games are better met by western developers and that's where the 360 comes in. I have a general rule of thumb that I don't buy a new system unless it has 6 awesome exclusive games that I just have to have. We're at 0 right now so it'll be a while.  Tongue

I will pay $600 when the games are there. If it costs less when the games are there then I'll pay less.

$100 - $150.  I'm in no hurry to get one.

I don't have a lot of time to play games, 10 hours a week at the most. I play my Dreamcast, Wii, SNES, and Xbox when I do have time. PS2 was the last system I bought with in a year of it's launch. I had no plans of getting a Wii. I got it with a trade on DP. I have know problem buying and playing games that have been out for years. I have so many good games now that I haven't played much. I will probable buy an Xbox 360 next, in a few years Tongue

I would pay 300-400 if I really wanted one but I am in no hurry to get one so I will wait till it is 200-300.

There was no option for 0, so I chose the lowest one available.

There's no option for $299.99 Tongue

I'd probably pay £150 for one, so about $300. But I have a next-gen console already so I won't be getting a PS3 for a while.

I'd pay for it, provided the games that came out for it were awesome, if the system cost $300 or less. I might also consider it if the system wasn't a George Foreman grill.

$400-$599. Just need some games out there. I keep finding more and more reasons to get a PS3 even at 600: PS Home, Littlebigplanet, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Devil May Cry 4, Resistance, MGS 4, Gran Turismo 5, flOw, Calling All Cars, God of War 3, Lair, and the list goes on and on.

Seems like most games released these days, regardless of the system, are sequels.

Actually, I think the opposite is true.

To be fair, 360 has new IPs with Crackdown, Lost Planet, Gears of War, Dead Rising, and even Viva Pinata; with Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and Bioshock upcoming. PS3 has Resistance, Motorstorm, and upcoming Heavenly Sword, Lair. Wii has WiiSports...and I'm not sure what else at this time but I'm sure there's others.

Good times!

Yeah, the sequels thing just caught my eye when Tondog listed Ratchet & Clank, Devil May Cry 4, MGS 4, Gran Turismo 5, and God of War 3. I suppose if a game is good enough then it would deserve a sequel but it seems there aren't enough original games now. But that's another topic.

I think for what it is, the PS3 is well priced at ~£400. But I don't have an HDTV to take advantage of most of its features. Therefore, to me it's not worth that much. I bought an Xbox 360 but something in my mind is putting me off the PS3. I've probably been brainwashed by angsty internet warriors who have been brainwashed by the angsty internet media.
