PS3 is too complicated

It hasn't been out very long. Epic says that they pushed the 360 to its limit with Gears of War. If that's 360's limit, then PS3 has a huge advantage over it.

IBM is working on making it easier to program for the Cell with the Octopiler. Google it and read more.

Don't think that just because first gen games are using 20% of the system's power means doom and gloom because it simply is not true. Just look at PS2.

And don't forget, EA doesn't exactly make the most demanding games for a system either...

Why do you say that? GoW looks good. Plus I doubt the pushed it all the way.

Also EA at 20% or 100% chances are the game is still going to suck. Does anyone miss early 90's EA like I do?

I seem to recall Epic saying that they pushed 360 to the max with Gears. I said that because if Gears is as good as 360's graphics will get and Motorstorm looks as good as, if not better, than gears, then PS3 might have an advantge in the graphical realm.

I miss old school EA as well. They had some great stuff back in the day, like Road Rash. Great game.

I do.  Especially the hockey games for Genesis and SNES.  The new ones are cool too, but the old ones are classic.

My comment wasn't meant to be 'doom and gloom', it was more amazement than anything else.  Amazement that the games look this good with only 20% of the Cell's power.  I know that the Cell is incredibly hard to write good code for.  Better compilers will help the situation tremendously, but a lot of the problem stems from most current programmers not having much experience withwriting code for multicore systems.  When the majority of programmers graduated there was no such thing as a multicore system, they all have to learn the nuances of this type of programming before they can utilize everything the Cell has to offer.

And yeah, I still like the Wii better.

The PS3 is also more than a year newer than the 360 and is a lot more expensive.  These two factors mean that the PS3 should literally be able to blow the 360 out of the water in terms of graphical performance.

360 is X-box 1.5, not X-box 2. M$ jumped the gun by trying to gain enough market shares by simply being the first of the "next gen" consoles. Did it work? Perhaps marginally, but they're going to be hurt when they have to build a new system while PS3 still has years of life to it.

I think most of us here will get a PS3 sooner or later. Just absolute crap for games right now, I don't think it even has enough in it's library to warrant even a $199 price right now.
