Hard choice, Mario 64 was pwnorific as was FFVII, and yet the game that truly took a hold of 3D enviroments was MGS.

I had to go with Metroid considering Metroid Prime was almost exactly like Super Metroid.

I voted Metal Gear. It did more to enhance the game and add to it than any of the other options.

Super Mario Brothers. I still remember being in awe at the n64 demo kiosk, and completely being glued to the game that defined a genre.

Metroid, easily. i am usually a 2d purist if a series started out that way but the metroid prime series has been what i would call a near perfect transition.

Super Mario 64 made me less uneasy about consoles moving into the 3D age.  Also, they did 3D right the first time, unlike Sonic CD or Donkey Kong 64.

Sonic CD was not 3D. It was 99% 2D, with a few little 3D things here and there.

True and it's an awesome game. But of the three PM games TTYD to me is the pinnacle.  Wink

For me it's a toss up  between Zelda and Metal Gear.  Both Ocarina of Time and Metal Gear Solid are two of my favorite games.
