Here are some pics of early on in the celebration.  It got much more crowded later in the evening.
This was very early on Friday, not too many people there yet.

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is the world's second largest Oktoberfest, second only to our sister city Munich.

Sister city Munich?  Ha.

So did you go down for that?  Somehow, I completely missed that and didn't even know it was going on at all.

My dad was at the 85-86 Oktoberfest (i think).
He has beerstiens and alot of other memorabilia and some pictures. It sounds like the place to be if youre ever in Germany that time of year.
(It runs for a few months i think Huh)

Your point is a valid one, but you have to remember that Cincinnati is a VERY German town....  at least compared to other cities that aren't actually in Germany.

From the Cincinnati Enquirer: "Overall, about 467,000 Greater Cincinnatians reported German as their first ancestry in the 2000 census, by far the biggest country, dwarfing the Irish at 161,000. That was about 180,000 fewer people than the 1990 census."

BTW mike, the reason the Cincinnati area was the location for the first Hofbrauhaus outside of Munich was because of the sister city connection.

US Oktoberfests might suck compared to a German one, but I bet German Fourth of July parties suck ass.  Wink
