Does anyone know why these games seem to be so rare?  In the past week or so I've found two long box games (Discworld and Primal Rage, sort of) and they are both rated as 5's on DP.  I've noticed this for other games too.  Anyone knowanything about them?

I have no idea.  I have two games that use them X-com UFO defense and Resident Evil.

I am pretty sure some are rarer becuase the long boxes where only used for a year or so and the titles were produced less.  The long box titles i can remember off hand are
Mortal Kombat 3
Wipeout
Primal Rage(I think this was cardboard though)
Killeak the DNA imperitive
I actually only added 2 to the list you guys had...
I know it was in an old Tips and Trick issue so ill put up a list later tonight.(Unless Den does)
I think there were between 30 and 50 long box titles made.

I also have Alien Trilogy and Street Fighter Alpha which are both longboxes.  I know Magic Carpet, NBA Live '96, and I think it's Zoop or some other game that starts with a Z were also long boxers.

I think what IZRET sait about these titles being rare because the long boxes were only produced for a short period is dead on.  I like the long boxes a lot more, but they are hard to find, and if the box is missing or damaged, it's not easily replaced like the regular hard cases.

According to T&T some of the original big box bames like Battle Arena Toshinda and Ridge Racer were shipped in boxed identicle to Sega CD and Saturn games. Also says it was forced to get that model to make release in 95 and that later they switched that box for the softer black case like the ones on NBA Shootout and Gex.

Damn.  That's a big list.  It looks like it's gonna be a long road to getting all of them (that's one of my collecting side quests).

I was moving some of my stuff around and saw my single lonely Long box PS game and was wondering how your search was going.

I've got 54 long box games. There are actually 3 different kinds of boxes (that I have at least) plastic like the Saturn/Sega CD, hinged cardboard covers and fold over cardboard covers.

I think the rarest ones I have are Silverload and Psychic Detective. The most recent one I've found is In The Hunt, it's a great 2D submarine shooter.

I think I've got an extra Assault Rigs and Jupiter Strike if you want to swap Sauza.

missing from that list of long box games is Space Hulk

I know someone at DP had a picture of it

apparently it is one of the rarest, if not the rarest, long box PSX games out there
