That seems like a lot, but they usually take their time (and then some) on their projects, and it shows.  Its not unusual for them to have a game in development for 5 years and still have delays.  With their outstanding track record of hit games, I'ld say the extra time has payed off.

I love Blizzard for their classics like Rock n' Roll Racing, to the fact they release their games as hybrids for both PC & Mac users.

I still haven't ever played WOW, but hell I may one day. I just figure it'll be a very time consuming game so never touched it.

They definitely are raking in some serious cheddar. For the record though, it DOES cost a lot to run game. There are literally airline hangars full of servers that have to be maintained constantly. There is also a development team working on the game persistantly, as new content is added all the time. So it isn't all just profit like some people make it out to be.

I'd still like to have just .001% of the net. I'd never work again.

And that 9 million number includes people who have stopped playing, or don't only play a few months out of the year, like me.  Also, the people who play in places besides the US don't pay as much to play.  I would be surprised if the people in China who play even pay 1/5th of that.

I'm still waiting for a World of Starcraft.  (Though if they make another one, it will be WoW2 or World of Diablo.)
