Anyone else remember this show (which has recently been turned into a comic) from 1994?  I had the pleasure of re-discovering it a few months ago.  The nice thing about my re-discovery is that I don't enjoy the show just because I liked it as a kid, like with most show from my childhood, but rather Gargoyles is actually an amazing show. It was a hard-hitting action drama with great characters, good art, good complex stories, and intelligent writing including may references to Shakespeare.  It surprises me that the show was geared towards kids (and that it was produced by Disney).  The only real evidence that it was for kids is that there's no swearing, blood, and almost no one dies.

The show starred Keith David as Goliath (he also played The Arbiter in Halo2 & 3 and Captain Anderson in Mass Effect).  As he and five other gargoyles from Scotland survive a slaughter from Vikings in 994 who are then put into a state of their stone-sleep for 1000 years and wake up on 1994 in New York City.  It follows their adventures as they try to adjust to life in the 20th century and find a place to fit in.

The comic is awesome because it's exactly like the show, the only problem is it's bi-monthly instead of monthly.   If you haven't seen either I strongly recommend checking it out.

I used to like watching Gargoyles too. I remember several chracyers were voiced by actors from Star Trek TNG.

Johnathan Frakes (Riker) was Xanatos and Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi) was Demona. Michael Dorn (Worf) also made an appearance. I didn't remember his character so I just checked the IMDB, he was Coldstone.

I loved that show when I was younger.  I remember I had an alarm clock with one of the gargoyles for a snooze button.  It was the one acted kind of like a dog if I remember right.  I probably still have it somewhere.

Is it on DVD? it'd be neat to watch the episodes again.

We had a VHS of it(i believe it was a gargoyles movie and not a TV episode.)

My mom even liked watching it with us which just made the show all the more awesome.

Top left: Hudson, Top right: Broadway, Bottom left: Lexington, Bottom Middle: Brooklyn (always my favorite), Bottom Right: Bronx.  Angela's not in the picture but she was Goliath's Daughter.  Who's also not in the pic.

the VHS is probably the first five episodes, when they released it on VHS they combined them into a movie.

Gargoyles was a awesome show.  I remember watching it along with Darkwing Duck.  I came across a couple NIB VHS copy's of Talespin last night at a thrift.  Now all I need is Ducktales and I'll be set.

I used to watch Gargoyles on Toon Disney every night when I was younger. I actually wouldn't mind buying each season of shows.

I just borrowed the Season 1 DVD from my sister.  Hopefully I'll get a chance to watch it sometime this week.
