To this day, I have seen Wii's on store shelves 2 times. The first time was when I (finally) found mine, and the second was a Target a couple months later. It's been months since then. People are still asking $325-$400 for new Wii's on Craigslist.

If that it what you decide to do, good luck in finding one! From what I have heard, around here, stores have stopped even putting them on the shelves since they go so fast. It seems like it would be worth it to at least ask about availability even if the shelves are empty.

Demand has not slowed until Nintendo stop the BS low production runs to keep demand high.

And, as of now, I think I'm leaning toward the Wii. But how hard are they to find in stores these days? I noticed they were selling for around $450 on craigslist a few weeks before christmas, but I haven't seen one since, I assume the demand has slowed?
No. Very no.
Call first before going. If they say yes, DRIVE AS FAST AS YOU CAN. The odds of them selling that Wii within the 15-20 minutes it takes you to get there is actually disturbingly high.

Yeah,  I know I didn't include Twilight Princess, but I thought that game was terrible in comparison to Wind Waker and it tried to mimick Ocarina of Time too much.

I MUST be reading this wrong. I almost thought that it said you liked Wind Waker better then Twilight Princess, that surely isnt right? I thought that Wind Waker was the worst Zelda game to date. It was still ok simply cuz it was a Zelda game but thats about it.

You are not reading it wrong. Wind Waker was much better and more creative than Twilight Princess was. Twilight Princess really did nothing new and basically rehashed Ocarina of Time. Not to mention that I hated the totally tacked on Wii controls. Wind Waker did everything better than Twlight Princess. Gameplay, graphics, story, dungeons, everything.

No really. I am not joking. I really feel that way. Twilight Princess is one of the most overrated game in recent memory. Then again I thought Adventure of Link on the NES was incredible...

Just to keep the tangent going, I haven't enjoyed any of the 3rd person 3D Zelda games. I'm a huge Zelda fan as well. All the handheld ones rock new and old, and so do the first 3. Even the CD-i ones were at least more entertaining albeit avec fromage. Tongue

My biggest gripe is the lack of freedom. I find the "invisible walls" very constricting for a game that touts exploration as a major aspect.

Back on topic, good luck with the Wii. Smash Bros Brawl is coming out soon so you'll have a 3rd major Mario game. Just stay away from the 14 foot waves of shit that crash onto the store shelves depositing ridiculous games and cheap plastic novelty accessories.

Take a look at the "List your Favorites" thread for the Wii for an idea of what the owners here have enjoyed over the last year:

Quite possibly my favorite thing of the system!
lol

I never had any trouble finding my Wii.
If it was for some reason sold out at one store i could go a block down and have my pick of dozens of them.

Why not get the best of both worlds?

...because that's $25,000. (Bad link, too)

I'd say go for the Xbox 360 but I haven't even seen a Wii so I can't give a fair opinion on the two.

Have you considered a DS instead?

This is kind of off topic, but I found a used DS, but I'm not sure if it's a good deal.

"This is for a White Ninetendo DS Lite that has a blue skin on it and also comes with a red skin, game case (hold 4 DS games), A white DS Case that holds the DS and several games,3 DS Games: Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Disney Princess Magical Jewels, Catz. There are 7 Advance games: Pokemon Leafgreen version, Super Mario 3(Super Mario Advance 4), Castlevania Double Pack - Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow, MarioKart Super Circuit, Sega Smashpack - 1.ECCO the Dolphin 2.Golden Axe 3.Sonic Spinball, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy IV. Also included are 6 GameBob Advance Videos: The Fairly Odd Parents Volume 2, Strawberry Shortcake Volume 1, Kids Next Door Volume 1, Dragon Ball GT Volume 1, SpongeBob Square Pants, Sonic the Hedgehog. Will come with car charger, wall charger, screen cleaner. Some original boxes will be included also. Everything works great! Still has a six month warrenty that will be included, where DS can be replaced if something happens while you own it."

What do you guys think? Most of the games are junk, but some don't sound bad.

I think you forgot one very important part to determine if it is a good deal or not. The price.

A couple decent games there, most notably Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Super Mario 3, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy IV and the Castlevania double pack. The warranty may or maynot be useful, some depending on where it was bought do not transfer to a new owner. The accessories, well your mileage may vary, there are a lot out there some good some crap. With all of that I'd pay no more than $150-$175. Any more than that you might as well buy a brand new one and 2-3 games. Smiley
