Hello Everyone,

I am posting this on behalf of my fiancee Gabi, who will be running in a marathon (yes, 26.2 miles) in June of 2008.  She is working towards earning $4,600 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, as a member of the Team In Training.  The marathon will take place in San Diego, California.  The $4,600 pays for her trip and hotel (and the remainder goes directly to finding a cure for these horrible diseases.)

Gabi needs to reach her goal of $1,000 by March 17th, and $4,600 by June 1st.  In order to help with the fund-raising, I told her I would post this on RF Generation (www.rfgeneration.com) and Digital Press (www.digitpress.com).  For anyone who donates at least $10, their name will be entered in a drawing to win either a Wii 2000 points card or a Xbox 360 1600 points card.

She can only offer these prizes if she meets her goals, otherwise, the money she does not earn towards the goals must come out of her own pocket.  One prize will be offered to each site once she hits $4,600.

When donating, please use your real name or screen name and do not use the anonymous option (unless you do not want to be entered in the prize drawing.)

See Gabi's note and on-line donation address below:

I am raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a participant in their Team In Training and I'm asking you to help by making a contribution.  Each donation helps accelerate cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma and brings hope to the patients and families who are on the front lines of the battle against these diseases.

Please use the link in this email to donate online quickly and securely.  You will receive a confirmation by email of your donation and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation.

On behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you very much for your support.  I really appreciate your generosity!

Tony,
Gabi can count on a donation from me and I highly encourage other to do so as well.  Some member may know that this is something that hits close to home for me.  And here's why, this is my son Spencer back in 2003 when he was three years old.

Three weeks after his third birthday he was diagnosed with Leukemia (Acute lymphocytic leukemia to be exact).  It's a devastating feeling to stand there and listen to the doctor tell you your child has a life threatening disease.  You feel so helpless knowing there is nothing you can do to help and you would give anything to trade places with your child.

The good news is that, thanks in part to organizations like Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the prognosis for kids like Spencer is very good.  Advances in chemo treatments made in the past 10 years have given these kids a great chance of living long healthy normal lives.  Spencer's lifesaving chemo treatments went on for almost three years.  Three years is a long time, especially when you are only three to start, but considering the outcome it's a very small price to pay.

Today, almost five years later, Spencer doing fantastic.  Other then having bloodwork done every three months he's just a normal seven year old.  As you can see from this more recent photo he's a fighter (not always with a light sabre!!) but this is a fight he could not have won alone.  So please join in this fight and help kids like Spencer out!!!

I wish Gabi luck in her training and fund raising.  We have a friend that become part of the Team in Training in 2004 and ran a marathon in Spencer's honor, so I know the dedication it takes.

Thanks everyone!  I gave her the $25 she needed to make $1,000 for the recommitment date.  Now she just needs to get the other $4,000 by May 16th.

Gabi is extremely grateful for your support!

Gabi still has a little ways to go before she hits her goal.  She needs to have it all by May 18th.

She is working on getting some fund raising set up locally, but she could use any help that anyone can offer.

Her lowest amount she needs is $4,600.  Any $ amount that she is missing from the $4,600 is automatically charged to her credit card.

Thanks again for your help!

She ran it yesterday. 6.5 hours. She ended up $1,300 short. Charged to her credit card. She still has a few weeks to fundraise. Anything donated in that time will be refunded to her card. Thanks for all your help so far. She said it was a great experience. One of the best days of her life. I got pretty sun burnt as a spectator in the San Diego sun.

Right now, with recent donations, etc., she is short $1,210.  She has another donation coming in from our friend's company, but that will only be about $200 at most.

Right now, she is sitting with a pretty huge charge on her credit card.
