I'm personally surprised at all the hoopla surrounding Obama's inauguration, not only in the U.S., but from what I'm hearing, the response has been very favorable overseas as well.

What does everyone think?

Should I make the obvious joke about bush being gone? It's hard to restrain...

Congratulations Obama! I watched it live on CNN. I'm glad the inauguration takes place at 12AM because I would've missed it if it'd be in the evening. Smiley

Awww, don't be so negative all the time. Considering what Bush has done, it'd be hard to do worse. Wink

Good point. Mediocrity is actually a step UP from where we are now!

Bush is gone, I'm happy.

The country's IQ just went up 3,000 points...more or less.  I'm thrilled.

I recorded the inauguration. I'm very happy on this day indeed. I'd want to show my children (if I ever have any when I get older) it.

I'm just saying don't get your hopes up so damn much. You're up to be sorely disappointed. Obama can't just magically fix things, and there's absolutely no evidence in his favor that he can.

DOW dropped under 8000 today...

I'm well aware that there is a daunting task ahead and my hopes aren't as up as you may think. I just wanna be at least happy today that there's no more Bush. I know that these problems might not even be fixed in more than a term.

I likewise don't understand the Bush scorn. He has done exactly what he said he would when he was elected; he managed 9/11 well, and was gracious in stepping down. Where's the damned problem? Don't say recession, it wasn't him.

I did as well. I'll probably burn it to DVD this week. If anything it will make good material for school project some day.

He replaced Bush, he's already a success in my book.
I know he can't magically fix everything, if we're lucky he'll fix a few things and set up for the bigger problems to be fixed by the next President.

I think the Bush resentment stems from the fact that he narrowly won both elections and he just comes off as a moron most of the time. It's not necessarily what he did, but who he is.

He got re-elected due to fear. That's all it was. Now Obama is elected due to hope. Makes sense don't it?

Heh, the dow did drop below 8000. Oddly enough, a lot of big headlines got overshadowed, such as this credit card info breach..

But hey! History was made today! It's been a really exciting day.
