I don't think this was ever done here before, but if it was maybe we could use a refresher.

The rules are simple.  You only have $10/equivalent of your local currency to spend (no tax or other nonsense). You can pick whatever from whatever price category you want AS LONG as you don't bust the $10 price.  There isn't anything exotic in here, and this is meant more as a gaming exercise versus a collecting oneWhat would you buy?

As an example, I am a big RPG guy (which is weird because I tend to fizzle around the 25 hour mark for everything), but I would choose Shenmue ($5), Skies of Arcadia ($4), and Grandia II ($1).

Ha! This is a fun question. Most of these games have been ported/remastered over the years, but I guess if we're talking in the context of the DC era...

Shenmue ($5), Power Stone 2 ($2), Dead or Alive 2 ($2), Dynamite Cop! ($1)

I'd probably go something like this:

Crazy Taxi ($5)
Power Stone 2 ($2)
Dynamite Cop ($1)
Capcom vs SNK ($1)
Resident Evil 2 ($1)

Soul Calibur - $5
Chu Chu Rocket - $3
Grandia II - $1
Resident Evil 2 - $1

It's a bit hard, because my instinct is to go with stuff I might like, but also think about replay value, and getting the most for my money. Challenging!

I've never played Grandia II. Worth giving it a shot?

If you like RPGs in general, then yes.  General consensus is that it isn't as good as the first but is still a worthy RPG.

There are plenty of good budget titles in this list, so I would go like this:

Jet Grind Radio - $5
Dead or Alive 2 - $2
Grandia II - $1
Resident Evil 2 - $1
Dynamite Cop - $1

Didn't pick the best of every genre, but I get good variety.

Were these games actually selling for these prices back in 2021? $4 for Skies of Arcadia is a crazy good deal - I definitely missed the boat on collecting for Dreamcast back when games were still cheap. Sad

Anyway, I'd probably choose

Skies of Arcadia - $4
Resident Evil 2 - $1
Grandia II - $1
Dynamite Cop - $1
Power Stone 2 - $2
Capcom Vs SNK - $1

Feel like that would be the best bang for my buck - Resident Evil 2 because I'm a big survival horror fan and already own Code Veronica (and I still haven't had the chance to play RE2 yet, unless the Game.com version counts). Skies of Arcadia because I can't pass that one up for $4. Grandia II looks like one of the best RPGs for the system and I already have the case but no game disc. Dynamite Cop and Power Stone 2 are both great party games and for $1 and $2 can't pass them up. And Capcom Vs SNK just because I had an extra dollar left over in my budget so might as well take it even though I'm not really a fan of most fighting games.
