Poll
Question:
How do you feel about breaking up the WiiWare/Virtual Console sections?
I think Virtual Console should be it's own section
I think that Virtual Console should be seperated from eShop
Who cares?
I don't know...

I am curious why are these two bundled together? They are very different. Can we not have seperate listing for WiiWare and Virtual Console?

That happens to be one of the boards that's not on the RSS feed, so it tends to be missed. I have no clue why WiiWare and Virtual Console are bundled together.
EDIT: Hmm, must've just missed it entirely - it's on the feed.

It would be really awesome if they could be seperated. I could help out with DB submissions/editing on those titles if need be.

All I know is that within a month of the system being added, I wanted them separated, but I was the only one at the time that did. I guess it was thought then that the system wouldn't be that successful and wouldn't get a lot of entries added.
When I was actively adding every WiiWare and VirtualConsole title, I specified on the game page which one it was for just in case we did split them in the future, it'd be a bit easier.

Since WiiWare won't be carried over to Wii U, but Virtual Console will. It only makes sense to split them up at this point.

And also it would make sense to add VC games from 3DS to the VC listing as well. Seeing as eShop will be the platform used on Wii U anyways. Therefore VC will be on Wii U as well, same as eShop. Kind of how PSN functions on Vita/PSP/PS3.

Sorry, haven't been active for a bit. I'll look into splitting this up, but it's not likely to be a simple move.

I'll just add this, the VC/WiiWare section could be split up or it could stay as is, it doesn't matter to me personally. But, even if we do split them up, our DB in its current form will never be able to properly categorize and display information regarding downloadable systems. Our whole setup had physical releases in mind when it was created and while it works excellently for that, it starts to fall apart for download only system. Especially now that they've gotten as complex as they have where "Virtual Console" is available on multiple consoles, but some games are not available on all of those consoles even though its still for the Virtual Console.
Basically, we need a separate DB that is created from just the shell of our current setup (like the Hardware DB) that is just for downloadable games. But, we just don't have the development resources to get something like that done any time soon.
