Turner Classic Movies

This has got to be one of about three good stations on TV, and is probably the best due to the complete lack of commercials. They've got SO many great classic movies, 24/7, and it's not like the same five movies get recycled every month. The one-reel wonders are great, the classic cartoons, the old news reels, the music.... I love this station. I wish they would play more silent movies, but not even the old people who watch TCM are with me on that one. At any rate, this is a great station. Turner has done at least one good thing with all that money.
I've watched three movies on it in the last 24 hours, and all three were great: Penny Serenade, Calling Bulldog Drummond, and Waterloo Bridge.

How does a channel survive without showing commercials?

I'm not really sure. I guess it's just that Turner has TONS of money?

it has commercials in the UK.
I like some silent movies, Harrold Lloyd in particular.

I don't have it on my satellite package because it's an add-on and costs a little each month, which I guess covers operational costs because all they have to do is play movies. They don't need as many people as other stations.
To me, the other good thing TT has done with his money was to repopulate the buffalo. Everybody's good for something.

we have to pay for it, but we get 3 "guest" channels each month - it's a guest channel this month.
The ad breaks are few and far between, but quite lenghty, which sutis me, cos I can make coffee etc.
Seen a few classics recently, including 2001 Space Odyysey

I thought that TCM did the commercials after each show? Even if they dont Turnrer probably has enough money left over to put some into the station. It cost extra to have it because i know we dont at my house but we have the HBOs and other movie channels.

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a movie even close to that new on TCM before.
