That is some very cool stuff. It all looks so sunny and serene. And the quality is great. It's almost as if they were taken yesterday. Great stuff.

wow. all the WW1 photos I've ever seen (WW2 and Korea too) have been black and white. You don't often think of that era in color.

Really? There are real color photo's from world war 2. Even real video. It's very impressive. Seeing a concentration camp or captured and fighting german soldiers  in color really opens the eyes. In black and white it seems so far away.  But color makes you realize it really only happened yesterday.

well I shouldn't really say all when talking about WW2 and Korea. growing up my only exposure to it was textbooks in school and all that was black and white. in recent years I have read a few books and seen some documentaries that were in color.

I have seen some color WW2 stuff.

I think that the black and white can be just as if not more eye opening though. Sometimes that makes things seem more drastic.
On the other hand it can make images less recogniseable.

http://www.greatwar.nl/ This has a lot more ww1 color pictures. They already had color camera's in that day, but they were very very expensive, so not commonly used.

Wasn't there something done in the mid to late 90s where they were trying to add color to some of the black and white films and images?
I thought i had heard something about that but can't clearly remember any more.
(Is that even possible? For some reason i think no.)

Yeah, you can (I assume) quite easily color film. They do it with old cartoons and movies like laurel and hardy too.

Some old B&W movies had color added to them and they looked terrible.

There were indeed a lot of color silent films pre- and post-WWI.  They were of course colorized like Tynstar mentioned.  Colorization was done for a long time, even into the 40's at least.  The same can be said for photos....

AGh gotta run.
Later.....
