Hello all!  I have a question about games made by the "Sachen" company.  What are these games usually considered in the NES collecting community?  I have two of them, a BINGO 75 and then a "4-IN-1" which has four different, uh, nudie type games on it. (Bingo 75, Lucky 777, Honey Peach, Chess Academy).  The Bingo 75 by itself, I do see from time to time on ebay but I have never seen another 4-in-1 Sachen cart.

Would these usually be put in the same category as the pirate multi-carts (which I also have two of) or something else?  Whatever the case, the Sachen games are a nice addition to my NES collection, I just don't know much about their history.

BTW, if you haven't played Honey Peach before and get the chance, it's a pretty neat little game.  Like strip Rock, Paper, Scissors.  laugh

I would put them in the pirate category. I scanned a few of the Sachen game for this site but have not up loaded them yet because we dont have a section for them.

Oh yeah welcome to the forums. Go introduce yourself here.

Considering that they were coded for NTSC sets and we don't have the rampant pirate scene that they have in Asia, I think that these were initially produced to be sold in the US.  I've had a couple of theories aboiut these, and the one that makes the most sense to me is that Sachen was going to try a strategy similar to what Zellers did for the Atari 2600.

The only problem was that Nintendo was a lot more sue happy than Atari ever was and that scared them off a little bit.  I think from that point on, the companies product was bought by mom and pop game stores that heard about them through word of mouth.

Mind you I don't have any evidence to back up my theory, but it seems to make sense to me.

It's me.  Thanks for the link by the way, the site is nice and I am starting to add to the "My Collection".  That will help out for trades and such....and to keep track myself.  I still have to get my NES and Atari games in there so I'm a little ways off yet.

I consider the sachens to be shady pirate carts. AFAIK, they were never sold in USA stores anywhere, but imported well after the demise of the system - a nice oddity to have on your shelf, but considering how shitty most of the sachen titles are...yeah, I don't count em.

That's right!  I totally forgot that they made other games besides the "Adult" titles.

is Sachen really considered pirate? wouldn't they just be considered another unliscensed company like Color Dreams or Camerica?

I know Sachen is Taiwan based, manufactured all their own carts and sold them primarily in Europe. They also sold a few of their games to other unliscensed companies like AVE and HES.

One of the games I scanned was called Thunder Blaster Man or something like that and it was a rip off of Mega Man so I would call it a pirate.

Are the adult titles like Honey Peach and Bingo 75 originals?  What I mean is, are they just a hack of something else that I don't know of or did Sachen actually program these?

I would put Sachen in this category. Are those games even in the database?
I don't remember seeing any of them.

1) Wtf, that quote code is all messed.
2) They are in dp's newest database.
Also: Re: Piracy: IIRC, sachen had VERY few original games. 9/10 of their output was a hack.

I'm not familiar with Sachen's games. I'd say if they are hacks that would qualify them as pirates and shouldn't be included in a database. the originals should qualify, or should they be left out all together since a majority of their games are hacks?

They're games people can own. I do think we should add them somehow.  Maybe a special 'hack' category besides the region categories.
