I decided to honor the memory of Leonard Nimoy by listening to some of my favorite scores from the various Star Trek shows and movies.

My little musical trek eventually led me to the soundtrack score for what is far and away the greatest moment in the history of the Star Trek franchise: the Next Generation season-ending cliffhanger "The Best of Both Worlds." And don't try to convince me otherwise, because you're just wasting your time. Also, you know what I'm saying is true; stop lying to yourself.

The most memorable piece for me is Borg Engaged. Even after a quarter-century and dozens of viewings, the haunting crescendo that plays when the enemy ship fills the viewscreen right after Picard says "magnify," still chills me every time I hear it.

Skip ahead to 2:08, and you'll see and hear what I'm talking about.

And don't get me started with the epic tunage accompanying the end of Part 1:

Mr. Worf...FIRE.

Thus began the longest summer ever for me...

In Flames is such an incredible band.

I was really big into In Flames a while back, around 2007-08, but didn't listen to them for a long time after that.  I just very recently started listening to some of their older stuff again.  I totally forgot how great it is.

Been listening to Eurobeat tunes of recent vintage. I find the sillier ones especially enjoyable.

If they ever do a follow-up to Billy Hatcher, here's its theme song:

This song's title could be a premise for a kick-ass video game:

Listening to almost the entire B-52's Cosmic Thing album (I skip over Love Shack and Roam, though). Always dug the group's bizarre yet upbeat and fun-loving tunes. Fred Schneider's over-the-top game-show-announcer singing/rapping voice rarely fails to amuse me.

Nice, Postmodern Jukebox!  They're coming through my city in a few months and a friend and I are going.
