I figured I'd put up a companion thread to my PS+ thread.

For those who don't know Microsoft has been making two games available for free each month to Gold subscribers. The games so far have been Fable III, Defense Grid: The Awakening, Assassin's Creed II, Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 (with Case Zero DLC), and Magic The Gathering 2013.

The current freebie is Rainbow Six: Vegas and on Oct 1 it will be Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.

Microsoft has a very long way to go match the value of Playstation Plus. Dead Rising 2 was definitely a step in the right direction, but Rainbow Six: Vegas (originally released in 2006) was a huge step backward. Trust me, I may be a cheerleader for Sony sometimes but better free games is a good thing for everyone. I want to see Microsoft improve this program.

Anyway I'll post the new releases as they come just like I do in the PS+ thread, so check back on the first and fifteenth each month.

I'll agree that the free games have been pretty lackluster so far, and honestly I haven't played any of them, even though I have downloaded them. The only ones that I liked I had already played.

For those that are newer to they system though, there have been a few worthwhile titles in there. Crackdown is still great even after all this time.

I went and bought two used copies of Rainbow Six: Vegas. I refuse to download full copies of retail games.

Crackdown is still one of my favorite 360 games.

Halo 3 is Oct 16

BOY OH BOY HOW GENEROUS OF THEM!

Something i did see noted in comments was that the download version sufferes from horrendous load times and was never patched to fix it.
I wouldn't know since there are like 150 million copies of the game floating around i don't see the need to download it.

Halo 4 would be a more impressive choice.

As Izret mentioned, today's freebie is Halo 3. It's an okay game if you missed it when it was released in 2007.

To confirm, the game was never optimized for hard drive install, since that came about after its release. As a result, instead of paying fees to patch it (and hence modify a risky portion of the game), they told users not to install to HDD. Doesn't help when Microsoft releases it as a GoD title.

I just can't get into any DoubleFine game I try. It's just a personal preference thing, they're not my style. I might try the Keflings game though.

Games with Gold is supposed to be carrying over to the Xbox One.
Which is shocking since One is not supposed to be backwards compatible....

Anyways what i came here for...
Iron Brigade is now available for the next couple weeks:
