Mad Magazine and Weird Al, two things that haven't been funny since about twenty five years ago, together at last!

Just picked this up at the nearest 7-11, for obvious reasons:

It's the first issue of MAD I've bought fresh off the newsstands in over a decade.

BTW If you haven't picked up a copy of your own yet... do it RIGHT THE HELL NOW.

Well, what are you waiting for? Stop reading this post and GET TO IT!

In fact, I hereby decree that everybody's next post on this thread must include this ish of MAD magazine as part of their latest small scores... or be summarily expelled from RF Generation forever. NO EXCUSES! And don't try to cheat with a stock image or photoshop manipulations, peasant!

THIS I COMMAND!

DISCLAIMER: The writer of this post does not have the authority or privilege to expel anyone from RF Generation for any reason whatsoever. Any expulsion resulting from noncompliance is not binding and unenforceable.

Got this from Zag, Smiley

Got this from Half Price Books:

Oh yeah... I also bought one of these today for 50p:
A PS3 launch brochure!
I couldn't photograph mine properly, so here's an eBay link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170978957811 here are some images I stole from an eBay page:

How come I can't find any more information on it? How were they given out? Anyone know?

I love finding these books. I haven't seen Game On before. Nice grabs!

Game On is pretty cool its basically a visual history of video games. Pretty cool to flip through

Mad Magazine and Weird Al, two things that haven't been funny since about twenty five years ago, together at last!

WRONG!

The decline of both respective comedy franchises began more recently, at the turn of the millennium. Weird Al had released Running with Scissors-- the last album I really cared much for-- and MAD magazine finally caved and accepted real advertising, and colorized the interior art. And some other guy took over Spy Vs. Spy after the original writer-artist died.

However, I won't consider MAD magazine truly dead until Al Jaffee either retires or passes away. The latter will likely happen first, seeing as how he's now in his mid-90s. On an almost monthly basis for over fifty years, Jaffee has written and drawn what is arguably the magazine's most famous feature: the fold-in. This amazing innovation is the reason why you'll likely never find an issue of MAD from the last half-century in near-mint condition. Maybe VG if you're lucky. Yet another example of MAD trolling its readership by daring them to not ruin pristine copies of its product, knowing full well that they couldn't resist the temptation if their lives depended on it.

BTW I've been coerced by threats of bodily injury gently encouraged by rational arguments to rescind my decree. So, um, there's that.

Yeah.

ANYway, I got a wee bit o' stuff to show y'all.

- CIB Dante's Inferno and Turok for 360, $3.99 each

- Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee for PC, $1.99

- Skylanders Trap Team Echo figure, and two dark traps: just a couple more figs to go, and my Trap Team collection's pretty much complete as far as i'm concerned...

Hey all!! Well I decided to hit up a few places as I got a good raise and I still had money to put away.  But today I spent a little more than I wanted to but still spent way less that it of been!  This will probably be my last big purchase for a while (I know I have said that before but I really need to step back a bit....but not completely) ;-D So without further ado here it all is! All from a local shop here in town.  Ignore the price stickers as I got them for far less than what's priced.

First a teaser photo -

Hey now,

Picked up this somewhat retro Coleman cooler as an early father's Day present. My dad has a similar one that's even older than I am, but in worse condition (though not by much). Fortunately, this one's still quite solid... not to mention magical. Here, lemme open this bad boy up and you'll see what I mean...

Whoah, check out the reading material...

Huh, what else?

- Sealed Radio Shack Color FX Car Racing handheld game, $2.49: Maybe it's due to its impending demise, but anything stamped with the Radio Shack, Tandy, or Realistic brand will always grab my attention. Good thing I didn't overlook this one...

Let's keep on truckin':

- Cobalt GBA SP with Pac-man World cart, $16.79

- 21 loose PSP game UMDs, $26.00 $18.20: Includes Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception, ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails (x2), Downstream Panic, Dungeon Maker: Hunting Ground, Dungeons & Dragons Tactics (x2), Field Commander, Full Auto 2: Battlelines, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee, Jeanne D'Arc, Race Driver 2006, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Resistance: Retribution, Valhalla Knights, Warhammer 40K: Squad Command, Wipeout Pulse, World Championship Poker 2, and Yu-Gi-Oh GX: Tag Force

the magic continues in the Small Gizmos & Gadgets thread; hope to see you there!

Huh, I wonder what this writing on the bottom is all about:

Welcome to the future of computing!!! I'd bet it still works. TI built things like tanks. The power supply is a strange one, so you'll have to hunt around. If you want composite out you can get cables on eBay.
