Collection: Show All - not working?
«
on:
January 17, 2014, 09:33:09 AM »
Hi, I'm not sure when it stopped working for me, but recently when I used to want to display my entire collection on the site, I would select 'Show All' on the upper right corner of the collection table, my entire collection would be displayed - almost instantly. I prefer this option rather than displaying individual pages. Lately, this option no longer works for me. 'Show All' is no longer working?
* Is it just me? Anyone else notice this?
* Has there been a change in how the collections can be displayed?
Any info or help on this issue will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

"Show All" would not always work for me for a while now (at least 3 months) , usually if I just added something to my collection. A few days ago, "Show All" would not work at all.

If it's not "always working" right now, it's likely due to the server issues we've been having with the database connections failing. I just restarted the server - let me know if it's working now.

Okay, today I couldn't get the 'Show All' view working at all. A day or two ago, I was only able to get it to work by clicking on 'Show All' a few times first.
Will the server issues with the database be resolved any time soon? Just curious. It seems like all the other functions of the database are working okay. I wonder why just this feature (the Show All) is janky? Anything we can do to help?

I've actually been talking with some of the database admins from a couple other sites and they've been giving me a few tips to help out, since they've run into similar issues. I've been unable to get time to actually track down some of these issues as of late, unfortunately.

the hard thing with RFGeneration is that it's all volunteer run, by people who have full time jobs other than working on the site. i'm sure they'll work it out eventually, but it's just a case of not enough man power or time to work it out as fast as everyone would like. i really hope it all gets sorted out soon too, but try not to expect instant fixes.

Show all seems to work fine for me on my home or work computer, but I do sometimes have trouble with this feature on my cell phone. Any way this could have something to do with the issue? What are you using junkwaffle?

I'm on Windows 7 and use Chrome primarily. Over the last couple of weeks, the 'Show All' feature worked intermittently. Some days, it works fine. Then a day or two later, it only 'shows 50.'
Also, interestingly, when I use the Android mobile app, (had it since launch) 'Show All' seems to be the default and works flawlessly for me - always.
Well, I understand the limitations of the fellas that run the site, I do hope they can eventually get around to finding the fix.
Thanks for efforts!

Quick follow up: When I came to the site today, just a few minutes ago, I couldn't get the 'Show All' feature to work. I clicked it a couple of times.
Just now, after posting the above comment, I clicked it again, and *whallah!* it worked. So, it works intermittently even by minutes... for whatever that's worth.

Definitely indicative of the site performance then.

If its being that intermittent, it may just depend on how many people are accessing their collections at that moment.

We've migrated servers, and the hard drives aren't failing now.
