First up is a Matchbox truck I ordered from the ebay:

Box is a little beat up, but overall happy with the price and condition.
Oh hey! I have that forklift!

Hey, um... you think you could build that Lego airplane, then take it and throw it right into a wall, causing it to violently shatter into a zillion pieces?
Well... There are 364 pieces in the whole set. Probably about half of those are the plane, with some of those being large specialised pieces.
The crash wouldn't be that spectacular. Undecided
You can look at the instructions for the plane here though: Instructions

On my next days off, I will try and make that video Zag. I think (other than potentially losing pieces) the end result would bring me momentary satisfaction.

On my next days off, I will try and make that video Zag. I think (other than potentially losing pieces) the end result would bring me momentary satisfaction.

"Momentary satisfaction," eh? I can just imagine the immediate aftermath: there you are, chilling on the nearby couch, basking in the afterglow of your destructive act. Your gaze hits the floor, and slowly your eyes go to the spot near the wall to the debris field of the Lego plane and its occupants. You pull a Marlboro out of the hard pack, light it, take a deep drag, turn your attention to the scene of destruction again, and say almost under your breath, "was it good for you, too?"

Speaking of momentary satisfaction: a few long-awaited purchases finally hit my doorstep Saturday.

Well, well, well... what do we have here?

More additions to my Magnificent Menagerie of Optimoid Entities, including a special-release Kre-O figure, and TransFormers Generations' redux of Powermaster Optimus Prime! ANYway, we all know what's coming next... so let's just get it over with.

But wait... what's this?

Why, it's none other than Orion Pax, the wimpy worker-'bot who would be rebuilt into the benevolent badass we all know and love today.

But that's hardly the only tribute to the Gen-1 show/toy line:

Yep, that's right-- this PowerMaster is also a HeadMaster! Say hello to Apex, named in honor of the trailer/armor that came with the original PowerMaster Optie.

All righty, time to check out vehicle mode.

Now just who's driving this thing, anyway?

On to the second box...

Yay, my third-party upgrade kits finally came in! Dang things have been on pre-order/backorder since Christmas Eve of last year. Let's start with the replacement boom for Combiner Wars Hook:

The little blue pill really does work wonders, doesn't it?

Whelp, time to call it a day. I'll show off the results of the other upgrade kits some other time.

Until then...

I was never a fan of G1 Powermasters, but I must say, they did a good job on recreating the G1 Powermaster Optimus. Devastator upgrades are almost required. They add so much to the toy. Did you get the replacement "Mixer" for Mixmaster?

Hey now,

I was never a fan of G1 Powermasters, but I must say, they did a good job on recreating the G1 Powermaster Optimus.

I wasn't the biggest fan of original PM Optie either, mainly 'cuz he wasn't very poseable. I did dig his look, though, and some time back I bought the Japanese re-release of the God Ginrai/Godbomber set that eventually came to western shores as PM Optie... minus the second trailer and most of the chromed parts.

I'm hoping they'll do a redux of Laser Optie some day. That's the one with the tanker-trailer that opens up into a badass battle base that shoots loads of missiles and discs.

Needless to say, I have a Japanese re-release of that one, too...

Tell me about it. As much as I dig the original, the enhancements make him even more badass.

After doing some digging, it's amazing how many cool upgrade kits, accessories, and third-party original-design toys are out there now. There are even a few knockoffs that are reportedly better than the originals in design, build, and detail. And don't get me started on the repro decal sets... which I might get to in the weeks to come.

I assume you're talking about this guy:

http://tfsource.com/dr-wu/dw-mixer/

Although the "upgrade" has a dead-on resemblance to the G1 original, I found the asking price a bit steep. Sadly, it appears to have been cancelled by the manufacturer.

Speaking of CW Mixie: check out his cab upgrade!

Long Haul's enhancements were minimal.

Check out these guns:

Then it's on to the head, which can be switched from two-eyes to visor-eyes...

...just like he can apparently do in the original show.

He also sports an interchangeable "extremely constipated" face...

Time to add more bran to those energon smoothies, big guy.

...and did I mention that his eyes light up?

And now, the final result of this extreme makeover will be revealed! First the Before pic...

...and the After:

Damn, new Devastator is freakin' pumped!

More upgrades to come...

Hello once again, everyone. Although I promised last time to show off more of my TransFormers upgrade pickups, this time 'round I'm gonna show off a little something that hit my doorstep this morning.

Now I know what a few of you are thinking: What's the big deal about a knock-off of MP-10 Optimus Prime? Well, it IS a big deal... figuratively and literally:

Not only is MPP-10 Optie bigger, he also possesses several extra sculpting and painting details that the MP-10 lacks, as well as some die-cast metal components. The producers of this knock-off didn't go for the quick buck, and actually aimed to make a superior product to really wow the collectors. And boy, did they really hit the bulls-eye here. They even included not one, but TWO Shia LaBeoufs-- one regular, and one emo:

This is what what happens when you put Linkin Park songs into the movie soundtrack.

Oh, and did I mention MPP-10 Optie is actually a little larger than MP-1:

Whelp, that's it for now. But before I go, I'll leave you with a little taste of what's to come:

FORESHADOWING!

And fans yet again will argue which Optimus, is the "Best scale" for other third party masterpieces. I like the scale of most everything that Hasbro/Takara has done for Masterpiece, but I have a buddy that hates that Grimlock isn't much bigger in robot mode. He has bought all of the FansToys Dinobots, and others. I am being picky. If it isn't Hasbro/Takara, I wont touch it.

Also, it saddens me that you refer to Spike as Shia Labouf. I couldn't bring myself to watch any of those godawful Bay movies, after the first one. I would rather wather G1 Season 3, before watching a Bay movie.

I'm not hung up on scale too much; if I find an Optimus Prime figure that I really like the look of, no matter if it's a high-quality knock-off or third-party fan-designed "original," I'll put it on my watch list, regardless of scale. The big concerns with me are (1.) the toy's quality, and (2.) if it is worth the asking price. Fortunately, there are usually a zillion YouTube reviews for just about every KO and fan-toy you can imagine, and I'll check out a couple dozen of 'em before I go on to the next step of wondering if it's worth the asking price. In the instance of the MPP-10, I got a good vibe from just about every review I watched, and it was within my discretionary-spending budget.

Now I'm saving up for the trailer...

Well, if that's the kinda attitude you're gonna have, then prepare to be disappointed by my next few acquisitions. I have a fan-designed "original," a KO, and more MP-10 upgrade kits on their way.

Also, it saddens me that you refer to Spike as Shia Labouf.

Blame that on the black-clad driver figure that came with the MPP-10 toy. His sorta-emo look got me thinking about the band Linkin Park, who had a song in the soundtrack of each of the first three BayFormers flicks. And who played the character that Spike was loosely based on in those movies? None other than Shia LaBeouf of course. BTW I'm surprised you still remember him, seeing as how he's not famous anymore...

I watched each sequel once, and that was all she wrote for me. Kinda sad when the most memorable scene from the sequels was-- *SPOILER ALERT*-- in Age of Extinction, when Optimus killed Frasier before he could shoot Dirk Diggler. I was like, "Holy crap, Optimus just killed Frasier! In front of Dirk Diggler!"

Real exciting shit, you know?

ANYway... if you have the stomach to watch, the confrontation starts at the 1:15 mark:

Looks like Cliff and Norm will hafta go into hiding now...

Hey now...

Yet another toy-score teaser to keep you on the edge of your seats! Just got my repro-label order in from Canadastan:

- All the label sheets on the left are for the Combiner Wars Devastator

- Upper-right label sheet for Generations Blitzwing

- Label sheets on lower-right are for Combiner Wars Megatron

- Two sheets of embossed Autobot logo labels were a bonus with my order

- StickerFixer adhesive pen

I also hit the local Harbor Freight and bought a set of tweezers and needle files to help me with these projects.

Coming soon: EXTREAM MEGATRON MAKEOVER!!!

Until next time...

Hey now yet again, fellow RFGentlemen.

Time to show off the results of the EXTREAM MEGATRON MAKEOVER...

...along with BlitzWing's label enhancements.

Aaaaand voila!

And while you're here, take a gander at my latest pickup:

It's a knock-off of the Optie tractor/trailer combo from Takara's Japan-only Smallest TransFormers line, and features a few enhancements that the original lacks, including...

...two rifles and a Roller accessory with peg-hole to hold a rifle. And, as you might have noticed, one rifle is thicker (more "bloated") than the other... a tribute to the two different versions of the original G1 toy.

Speaking of peg holes: KO-Optie's hands feature fist-holes to wield the rifles, as opposed to the original's clip-on dealie.

Aaaand finally: the trailer!

Unlike the original, which has a non-functional molded-on repair pod, the knock-off features one that is fully-functional, and features an opening canopy and articulated grappling arm:

Whelp, that's about it for now. And you know what? I've become a bit weary of TransFormers. I'm actually looking forward to Michael-of-Engineering-Fame's latest MOTU and G.I. Joe pick-ups to break up the monotony a bit. But before I go, I'll tease my next project:

EXTREAM OPTIMUS MAKEOVER!!!
