Hi all

So Ive been pondering whats the rarest game ever sold in the UK?

Most NES collectors would tell you the rarest games are stadium events, NWC, campus challenge etc... For SNES games it would possibly be the starfox and donkey kong competition carts. But the thing these games all tend to have in common is they are rare and expensive US games. Do a google search for rarest games and they are all US articles and discussing rare NTSC games, and maybe some rare Japanese imports. Even in Europe the rarest games (Gimmick, flintstones dinosaur peak, stadium events etc for NES) were not sold in the UK, and the NTSC releases tend to be rarer and worth more money. This means for a UK collector like myself you tend to look to the continent for these super-rare and challenging to get titles. But then you are pretty much stuck paying ebay prices.

So the question is, as stated in the title, what are the rarest/ most expensive games in the UK? The rule is they must have been sold originally in the UK (specialist importers not included). It can be for any system. It can be a special edition of a generally common title. It doesnt have to be a UK only game either (though some rare UK exclusives would be cool).

Im sure theres no definitive single answer but it will be interesting to see what people come up with.

DarXide is generally considered one of the rarest, and was released on the European 32X.

Kizuna Encounter takes the cake though for European AES: Only 12 made.

Only one made.

EDIT
I guess it would qualify as a packaging variant though?

I'll have to keep an eye at for those at the carboot sales.  Grin   Wonder what happened to the car

I thought of a fairly rare UK release (though not in the same league as those). Wasnt there a special edition of Donald Ducks Lucky Dime Caper on master system released in the UK, that came with a tshirt and cassette tape or something?

Racketboy is bad for putting up rumors like that as fact without backing up the info. It very well could have been restricted to one country in Europe, but it isn't confirmed as far as I know.

Wasn't World Championship Soccer 2 on the Mega Drive a rare UK game? From what I've read only something like 3 or 4 known copies were found (most likely more were made than those) and ended up getting up to £808 for the game. The Classics version is much much more common and can be found more easily however the original version isn't.

Wouldn't think a football game would be worth that much. Also didn't know until today that someone from Sensible Software worked on the game: http://megabitesblog.word...s-soccer-secret/#more-973
