European Neo Geo Games (and also Jaguar issue)
«

I just noted Apollo Boy added the European version of Kizuna Encounter for Neo Geo. As most Neo Geo games have only one english release (Expection for the dog-tags) I think it's not a wanted situation to make different release for the USA and European releases.
Problems I see is a lot have games have to be removed form the usa and listed as European
- most games have been released in both regions which lead to double entries for the same release as we already see this with the Atari Jaguar
- For games specificly reelased in one region (Ultimate 11, Kizuna Encounter and Puzzled are Europe only, King of Monsters is for example usa only)
will be submitted over again as USA and otherwise as there are no differences which can tell the owner it's European or American. As the system is region free European versions were sold in teh USA and American games were imported by European stores.
I think it would be better to lock the option of European Neo geo Games, the European version which are different are clearly tagged in the variation field.

Wanted to let you know I read this topic, but I need to do more research on it. I haven't had much time to look into things as of late, so maybe Apollo or another member can chime in before I do.

sharp, would it be better to have it as Region Free? The North America/Europe split is mainly due to the format differences (NTSC/PAL), but if there are no format requirements here and the packaging is the same, it seems like it should be Region Free and have a Japanese variant perhaps?

That's the solution that we did for the digital titles that had region/country-specific releases. Did you want to submit the new changes, or would you prefer we have someone on the staff make the changes? It'll require a new submission either way, since we can't change a region (we can change country) after an entry has been submitted.

Okay, I'll see if I can get to this sometime this week, but it may be next week since I have a Final Exam/Project due this week. If you don't see any action on this next week, feel free to call me out on it.

Any updates as I restarted collecting jaguar. Can I add the japanese manual to the usa version as it's the same game?

For Jaguar I need to say just found out there are indeed europ copies of the Atari games. Just noticed a disclaimer on bottom of the box of some games that they were imported to Europe by Atari Benelux. Stays strange as the games still have the usa ratings on the box and no european rating

Some European Jaguar games were published by Telegames rather than Atari.
International Sensible Soccer being one.
Its listed as USA here:

I think Telegames was a UK-distributor. Fact is that almost all 1st party jaguar games are the same release in Europe as the USA. You can even see it under the box, where it say it's distributed by Atari Benelux in Europe. There are a few thrid party games with different releases, clearest is Power Drive which had different artwork.
