Probably better as a new post if you're looking to get attention. Not everyone reads this thread. Wink

I found this on the ground in town today. It's a LEGO LED torch. (LEDs are in the feet.)
Not sure what happened to his head...

hardly looked at RFG all summer, shame on me. attempting to catch up, i'm nearly 10 pages behind on the small scores thread alone.

haven't done much collecting this year, a few spurts here and there but on the whole i've been saving money for more important things, and collecting isn't a high priority unfortunately. it's been over a year since i last bought an N64 game Sad and i'm fully aware that prices are just getting worse. hopefully in the next year or 2 i can get back into it once things settle down around here.

There's been an accident about 70 metres away from our house. When I last looked, there were two police cars and an ambulance on scene.
Sounds like two pedestrians have been hit by a drunk driver. At least one may need to go to hospital.

A group of ~12 people around my age are gathered around speaking to the police, drinking, smoking and being noisy.

EDIT: Emergency services have been there around an hour now. Not actually sure when they arrived.

EDIT 2: ~28 minutes later... Blue flashing lights still there. I think they're taking the vehicle now.

EDIT 3: ~23 minutes later... I think the emergency services have gone now.

So this is what happened a few days ago:
Two teenagers on a motorbike were hit by a car. Apparently the air ambulance landed nearby. I didn't hear it though.
One teen was taken to Hospital with a head injury and remains in a serious but stable condition.

It's been overdue for a while, but it finally happened: a wildfire broke out near my neck of the woods, in the Santa Cruz hills. It started around Loma Prieta-- yes, that Loma Prieta-- early this afternoon. I first saw it when I walked out the front door of my workplace on break:

Almost looks like a volcanic eruption, doesn't it? It looked even more so a few hours later:

A view of the conflagration from my front yard:

A coworker of mine, who has a background in fighting forest and brush fires, told me that it will take at least two days to contain. Last I heard, it had already consumed over 500 acres and a few homes.

Welcome to California...

Judging from my view of it this morning, it appears the fire has calmed down quite a bit.

Looks like a low-hanging cloud bank, doesn't it.

Sorry to disappoint, but the fire's being pushed southeastward by the winds, away from the Silicon Valley's urban and suburban areas. Sadly, it's threatening to rip through the Uvas Canyon area, one of the most beautiful scenic routes the south bay has to offer.

If I start smelling roasted garlic in the air, I'll know that it's reached Gilroy...

I have to ask, what is the significance of Loma Prieta?  I have never heard of it.
