When I log in to the site from the sidebar of the homepage it occasionally opens the forum in a new window. Sometimes it will open the forum in the same window, and other times it will keep me on the homepage after logging in. I never seem to be doing anything differently when it logs me in like this. Any chance of this being an easy fix? Ideally it should keep me on the page that I login from, whether that's the homepage or the forums or the collection tool.

This has been ongoing for probably years now, I never got around to mentioning it though.

Weird. What OS and browser? Anyone else experiencing this so we can verify or see if it's limited to a single browser behavior?

I haven't logged in, except when switching accounts or computers, in YEARS, and when I've done it I've never had it open a new Window - not even on my phone.

Also have never experienced this issue.
Primarily use FF but have also used IE and Chrome.

There have been other login issues in the past related to signing in from different locations but to my knowledge those were all remedied.

i'm one of those weirdos that actually logs out of accounts and deletes my cookies/history regularly, so i deal with logging in almost every day. the problem is sporadic but if it helps i'll try to remember making note of exactly what time and browser i was using when it happens next. maybe you can find it in the logs and see if it did anything unusual? i'm using Chrome now and it happens here, but i used to use Firefox and it happened there a lot too. firefox i had set to open new windows as a new tab, so i usually got it there as a tab instead of window, but now i'm getting it as a new window in chrome.

didn't happen when i logged in this time, left me on the homepage after logging in from there.

windows 7 and 10, both home premium versions.

of course now that i'm watching for it i can't seem to replicate it either.

edit: ha! one login attempt out of maybe a dozen redirected me to the forums after logging in from the homepage. it didn't open a new tab or window though, just redirection. i was using a work PC with:
windows 7 Professional SP1
Firefox version 34.0.5 - rfgeneration was set as an "app tab"

as i said i do that regularly and it still comes up now and then. though since posting it i have yet to see the new window issue, but i swear it was happening recently.

oh! it happened finally. logged in from homepage, it opened in a new window.

windows 10 home
chrome version 45.0.2454.85 m

didn't take note of the time but it was within the last 10 or 15 minutes that i logged in.

The only time I can get it to happen is by pressing Shift+Enter after inputting my username/password.
