my brother in law works at a school and they were trashing some computers. he brought me 2 Macs last night.

they are both G3's complete with 17" monitors. they were donated to the school by an ad agency and the school never used them, they still had old files from the agency on them. most recent files were from 2003. these things just sat in a closet for over 2 years.

I now have 4 Macs at home.

I was expecting these to be junk. other than being dirty which is not a problem they are in fabulous shape. I was pleasantly suprised. and you can't beat the price.

I want a Mac, but for my money, a PC seems to be better.  Also, I'm not very familiar with the Mac OS, and I already know the ins and outs of Windows.  So no Mac for me.

I was a Mac only guy for a long time. My job has slowly pushed me into the PC world. Now that's pretty much all I use. Mac's were much better for graphics applications. Sure they have the same programs for Mac and PC but when I do get on the Mac it just feels so much smoother.

A friend of mine worked at Xavier University last summer replacing the computers in all the labs on campus.  At the end of the summer, he had walked away with TWO FULL LABS OF COMPUTERS.  Granted, they were small labs, but he still walked away with a little less than 50 towers.  (They kept the monitors for the new computers.)  All but 5 or 6 of them he sold on eBay, he kept a few of them and I got 2 for spare parts, as I do a lot of computer repair for people.

I'm not sure how much they all ended up selling for, but selling something you got for free nets you a profit no matter what.  The funniest thing was the fact that he has an SUV, and still had to make 4 trips.

I guess I could have gotten more if I'd wanted them. apparently the had 7 or so more. It's tempting but I've got no where to put them.

aw, come on. get some of the other Ohio crew together and make a Saturday road trip out of it. (though if Macs are involved Nep will want no part of it)

if I get a few more I'll let you know.

Maybe I can get some of the MI guys together and we'll have an unofficial RFG meet & greet.
