I was posessed by a wild impulse and bought the following:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

Think I paid too much?  I've seen them go for $700+ on ebay.

Cool purchase.

Price doesnt matter as long as you enjoy what you bought. Wink

Maybe I'm the only one who noticed this, but there's a kitty in the last picture.  Awww, kitty.

Anyway, that's awesome!  I wish I had something like that, but I don't have that kind of money to spend.

Very nice item!!  I've also seen them go for more, so the price is definitely not bad!  Someday I'd also like to get ahold of one, although I can't even imagine what the international shipping costs would be to Europe Wink

So, I bought this thing.  Paid right away.

I paid $400 + $18 shipping (which is what his shipping calculator quoted me.  Of course I knew he would have to eat some shipping because it's not the weight with this thing, it's the size.

Now I get this e-mail:

Quote
Ok lets see how to explain this . Yes shipping out ups is only 18+ for 30 lbs but thats why I gave measurement for it so You could check on the actually shipping price of it.Went to UPS store to ship it out their cost was 116.00 and the packaging I was going to pay was about 42.00. I am checking out other options for shipping to get the price lower. My co that i work for ships fed ex with discounts I will ck with that on Monday. Because Im sure you dont want to pay 116.00 for shipping. If you are sitting there shocked about the cost re read the description for the item and call Ups for tottal .Make sure you give them measurement when you do.Sorry about all this but I will check with other options and let you know on Monday. Thank You

Am I right in my opinion that I have been quoted shipping and therefore only owe that amount?  I feel that he should eat his mistake, just as any of us do when we make them.

Any input would be appreciated.

I would show that letter to ebay and have him forced to do like you said and eat his mistake.

If the shipping calculator used on the auction quoted you at 36 buck shipping fee that is all it should have been.

He falsely advertised the auction for that what 7 day listing. And has probably already blown the almost 450 you sent them.
Don't let the problem go to much longer or they might be too late to have it rectified.

Well it is his fault. But you could be nice and pay $75 for shipping and have him pay the rest. You would still get a smoking deal.

I sold a ca bumper on Ebay and it weighed only 25 pounds. If it was smaller it would of been around $15 to ship the thing but since the box was so big USPS wont ship it and Fed Ex charged $76.

So remember size matters! Wink

I agree with Tynsyar.  I would email the guy back and see if you guys can come to some sort of middle ground.  If he would have misquoted you by only like 15 or 20 dollars I would've just told him to go screw himself, but since it is so much of a difference it would be alot more reasonable to help the guy out.

I agree with this gentleman and the gentleman above him. The thing is worth the extra costs.
