I e-mailed him today as I've yet to hear from him about the amount he expects me to shell out to ship.
Call me pessimistic, but I have a bad feeling about this auction.

He responded today with:
OK I can ship out from my co. by fed ex ground (2 to 3 days) for 76.59 thats the best way I have found. which would leave a balance owing on shipping of 58.23. If you can find away cheaper with the specs I have given in the auction will ship that way. I have him already boxed up and packaged real good awaiting answer. Thank You.
And I responded with:
First, let me just say that I don't think you did this intentionally. I fully appreciate the fact that this was a mistake on your part.
However, it is your mistake. When you placed the auction up for bid, and I accepted your bid, we entered into a contract. I can't legally refuse to pay, nor can you legally refuse to ship the product now that I've paid (immediately after the auction I might add). Therefore, I don't really owe you anything.
In an effort to be amicable, I suggest a compromise.
I will pay more than half of the additional shipping cost; $30 after the item arrives to me in good condition. This means you would only have to absorb $28.23.
Please advise
What do you guys think?

I think it sounds good as well.
If I was the seller I would say OK because he is the one that should eat the shipping cost.

Your response was worded very nicely. It is firm, but not dickish. If the seller isn't a dick (and he seems like a pretty reasonable guy), he should go for it.

I got a positive response from him today:
Don't worry about it. Asked around it was my fault I should have mentioned oversize package but never dealt with anything like this before.Sorry about it all. will be shipping out Monday by DHL shipping.Friend of mine told me to use them. It's only costing me 52.00 to ship and thats with them picking up at my house and insurance. Beats UPS of 116.00 or FED EX 76.59. Again sorry about all this.
I'll leave him positive feedback as soon as I get it. |D
