See that's what i hate about online posting, it's so hard to read into sarcasm. Makes me feel kinda funny, like when we used to climb the ropes in gym class.

I flat out refused to climb that damned rope. I was like uhhh wtf, there's nothing at the top of the rope....this is fucking pointless. maybe if everyone who successfully climbed it got to swing on it and scream like tarzan afterwards...but nooo... "I climbed the rope" doesnt mean shit.

I always used to scream when I got to the top of the rope.  I always figured if I'm gonna go all the way up there, I might as well make it worth my time.

How is rope-climbing even allowed in elementary gym classes?  What would the schools do if some kid fell and hurt him/herself, eh?

Actually...I haven't seen those ropes in person for probably 10 years.  I seem to still have the idea that they go to the top of the gym.  They're probably only 8 feet tall.

(I have vertigo.)

My first gradeschool didn't have the ropes. The gym's roof was really really high, at least to a 1st grader.  They used the pegboards instead.  My second gradeschool had the ropes, but the roof on their gym was 20 ft. max.  I was never able to climb them anyways, had the strength, couldn't ever get my shoes to hold my position as I tried to advance my hands. The knotted one was fine, for obvious reasons.

Hopefully this dispute between admins doesn't come to war between hardcore and RF.
