I said something like that to my wife. I want to know the context of the quotes. But still some of the quotes are bad no matter what the context.

For example the multiple people who said AIDs was a gift from god?

Really the only way many of those quotes could be defended as misleading is if the person had said that is something people should not say or believe or whatever.

It's homeschool here. And I know more world history than most High School teachers. My friends don't know jack about jack and that's why I said it.

And what I meant by saying that is that, if you look at European history, things were a bit more extreme. The English got a little loose about it and the separatist Puritans came over here.
We are a country that was halfway founded by those insanely strict Puritans and their...residue still exists. There are still people like them, some of the quotes are indeed from people like that.

But most are just horribly out of context. For instance; because I've heard them say it, the Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh quotes are just sarcastic remarks. Rush say's that stuff all the time.

I must say I am a very devout christian..Calling oneself a christian doesnt make one a christian..Im a firm beliver in Jesus and try my best to follow his teachings..But people are not God and they still are sinners like the rest of us.The difference between muslims and christians is Christians know were sinners and can only come to God through Jesus sacrifice.A gift of grace where the rest of the religions are based on getting to heaven by works..or earning their way in.Like I said christians are not perfect and still sin.

This is why people from Europe point at the USA and laugh.

The rest of North America does this too.  Canada has been around just as long as the USA and is founded by pretty much the same people.  From my experiences most citizens of my country are not socially uptight.  I don't think this has anything to do with it.

Crackpots like Anne Coulter are allowed on TV because they stir the pot.  Get viewers emotionally charged and you have good TV.  This is an example I think applies to most people on that list.

Why is an entire religion getting blamed for things some of its rogue members do?  Lets pretend that for the sake of argument that all those people are power hungry raving madmen.  Do you really think they would be better off without religion?  Without “virtuous” laws to guide them to at least try to build a better tomorrow, they would just be madmen with reckless abandon for all life.

No offence, but judging Christianity based on a couple members is the exact same type of destructive cohesive group mentality that causes racism.Smiley

“HAY GUYZ, WE SHULDKASTRATE TEH GUYS B/C THAY R RIGHT WING FACHISTS BECAUSE HITLER AND STALIN WER GUYZ”

And the church in Europe is more predominate (and orthodox) in a lot of European countries than it is here.  But that is speaking in general, and general things can have exception.

Canada was founded by catholic French, not protestant puritans. The first settlers of the English colonies were separatist farmers. The first settlers of the Canadian colonies were adventurer trapper soldier types.

You aren't socially uptight because you're socialists. |D

I stand corrected.  But my point about the age of the country having little to do with it stands Smiley
