Considering it's an early mech game, it's likely something in the BattleTech universe.
Graphics look older than the Genesis version, so... BattleTech: The Crescent Hawk's Inception?

I hate you.  First time, every time.  This was on the C64 and created by one of my favorite developers, Infocom.  If you haven't played this, I highly reccommend it.

Well, I just so happen to enjoy BattleTech/MechWarrior a lot, and own the Genesis BattleTech game. Looks awesome though! I have a C64 (2, actually), and a monitor, but no games except Zork I. Maybe I should pick up a copy of that. My wife would probably love it, as she's a fan of BattleTech as well.

I was just listening to a song from this. Wish the sequels came out in the US.

That looks cool but in my opinion it's not even close to the Crescent Hawk Inception.  You need to play this.  Really awesome.
