Let's not make this a bash DP thread.

Especially since they are one of our "affiliates" Wink

Maybe we could work something out where we could use the rarity guide, but we would NEVER use anybody else's work unless we had prior permission.  Smiley

To be honest I don't want anything to do with a rarity guide. At least not for many many years. I would rather do one thing very well (collection tool) that a bunch of stuff OK.

I agree, but who knows what the future will bring.

It would be cool to do if some one had that eBay feature that I've heard about, that shows what specific items have sold for in the last 90 days or how ever long it was for. eBay sent me an E-Mail about this feature, but it was too high, and I'd never use it. It would come in handy for a price guide though. You'd just have to have a LOT of people to keep stuff like that up to date.

I don't think it would be a good idea to use DP's guide, as I know for a fact that some of the prices / rarities they have listed are way off, plus that's their cornerstone, and since they nolonger have collections, their rarity guide, and their large community are about the main things that keep people coming. Besides, they put alot of time and effort into their rarity guide, and I doubt they would want to whore it out to another site.

In a perfect world it would be great if we could have an accurate rarity guide for the games.  The problem is I dont believe anyone on staff currently has the time, let alone the means to build one as there's so many factors to take into consideration ranging from region shortages/surpluss, to games getting released in only specific regions.  I have alot of free time, but there's no way I have the energy or money to drive all over Houston let alone all over Texas to try building such for just this state alone.  It would be better to just contact the companies themselves to see if they would admit how many copies of each game was produced.  I'm against using DP's guide not because I have anything against them, but because that's their work they poured time and energy into.  I'd consider it stealing if used against their permisiion and just plain lazy even with it.  I agree with Tynstar as well.  Start with the collection tool and get that built up before moving on to things like rarity and price guides.

Frankly, I'd rather see strat guides added before I saw rarity/price guides added.
