Hey, guys.  Our 5 year old Wire Fox Terrier named Asha started throwing up last, Tuesday, 6/19/07.  My wife took her in on 6/20/07 to find out she has pancreatitis, her levels her high, and her white blood cell count was low so we had to keep her overnight.  Well on Friday, 6/22/07, she was still at the vet and her levels got worse so we visited her on Saturday morning and she definitely looked better but the vet wasn't doing any more tests until Monday the 25th.  Well we visited her Monday and her levels were normal, which is good, but her liver levels were high and she has Jondus which is normal when the pancreus get inflammed.  Well the vet let us take her home yesterday thinking that she is depressed and just wants to be home and hopefully that will help.  Well she threw up about 8 times over the course of the night so my wife is going back to the vet this morning to see what they say.  I'm sure it will involve another overnight or two.  She does look better because on Tuesday last week she would just lay there but now she at least gets up every once in awhile and her tails wags and is up every so often.  She also wants water which is a good sign but the vet told us only to give her a teaspoon of water every hour.  I'll keep you guys updated but also give Asha your prayers to get over this.  Thanks.

WoW...my g/friend is a head vettech at a local vet hospital here, thus having us aquired around 18 or so broken, sick, unwanted animals over the years...lol One of our most recent was a 1 year old malnurious king charles cavilier with an obstruction and pancreatitis...his then owners would only put up $500 for the bill and nothing else beyond that, but needless to say he needed surgery for the obstruction that he could not pass ,blood transfusions from the pancreatitis, xrays, ultrasound, etc. And the bill skyrocketed,so they agreed to sign ownershiip over to us instead of putting him down.But,Shaggy..I know what your going through...its tough...and she can always be susceptible to bouts of pancreatitis in the future...bland diet,no treats(or very limited bland treats)...I feel for ya,but she'll pull through... Well, we visited her this past Friday and she looked about the same.  My wife visited her on Saturday morning and she called me from the vet in a very upset mood and basically she had thrown up all night and the vet said we must consider making a decision on putting her to sleep because we won't do the surgery seeing it doesn't make sense.  If we do exploratory surgery and find a tumor he said they put the dog to sleep.  If we do the surgery and find nothing than we are back at the beginning.  So the vet called us around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and said her white blood cell count sky rocketed (about 31,000, I believe).  Now the vet knows she had a bacteria so he can apply the proper antibiotic!!  We we think happened is she got the pancreatitis from a virus and than it turned into a bacterial infection so now it looks like the vet can fight it.  We aren't out of the woods yet by any means but this is definitely promising news after talk about possibly putting her to sleep.  Thanks you guys for your support and generous comments and hopefully I'll have news of her coming home and being well this week!
