Learned something new today...
The significance of HAL singing "Daisy Bell" in 2001: A Space Odyssey - it was the first synthesized song.

1961 - the IBM 704 sings "Daisy Bell"

Its no coincidence, but Arthur C. Clarke was present at a demo to have witnessed it.  The 2001 film was screened in 1968, and all of the Apollo 11 astronauts had seen the film before the famous Moon landing.  What a cutting edge piece of science fiction.

Sorry, had to geek out on that.... 2001 is by far my favorite film!

Time for some kawaii 4-way action!

...so long as three women are involved.

Otherwise, that's just... weird.

In other news, I've been reading rumors that the creator of Pokemon has Asperger's.

Why am I not surprised by this possible revelation?

Sort of a downer, but Kevin Cronin, aka SegaAges, co-host of the Video Game Rescue podcast, passed away last night at 2am of a heart attack at age 31. They are currently attempting to raise funds to cover funeral costs.

If you were a friend or a fan of his work, I'd at least ask you to look at the donation page if you can contribute. If not, I completely understand, but I just wanted to put that out there.

Thanks.

GameGavel is auctioning off a pre-release Retron 5 with proceeds going to his funeral cost fund.

I think its pretty awesome Hyperkin is doing that, it actually makes me want a Retron 5 that much more.

Writing my thesis these past 3-4 weeks is starting to get to me. At first I was thinking "this is going way better than last year!" but now I feel like I still have a ton of work. 3 more weeks left.

And for good measure (as per usual) it's just now that I have some group project deadlines coming up. We did divide the work, but as I'm the person putting the entire report together, I'm basically doing all of the work myself just to be able to check the others' work. Roll Eyes

Good luck on the thesis Sirgin. Aren't you almost wrapped up now?

Anyone know any good remedies for back muscle pain? I feel like I've either bruised or torn some muscles in my left shoulder blade - I have to keep it raised to stop it from being in pain, and anti-inflammatories aren't really helping besides staving off migraines caused by the pain.

I've corrupted my wife.

We received a copy of Wired and a copy of allrecipes.com in the mail today. She's a tech geek, and I expected her to be reading the Wired magazine first. Her excuse? It's sealed, and she didn't want to open it. Roll Eyes

Browsing my local CL ads and came across this http://terrehaute.craigsl...t.org/zip/4456216322.html For those afraid of links or CL taking it down here is the ad.  This was posted in the Free section not the weird area's of CL.

Free adult toys! (Terre Haute)

Giving away my extensively used, albeit frighteningly impressive butt plug collection! They range from small and rather innocuous to "oh my god my donut hole is tearing". Most of the smaller ones are new in package, because I honestly didn't even bother with them once I graduated past expert level butt plug connoisseur. Not to brag, but there's no punishment my brown eye can't handle, including catastrophic cornhole contusions. Overall, this is a very impressive collection of 84 toys that needs a new special home. Come be my butt padawan, and have some faux phallus fun today!
