IMHO, Bungie has dropped the ball and it's not the first time.  We'll just have to agree to disagree.

I suppose so.

But bend your mind around this fact. H2 has more people playing it online than any game ever on a console (at least I am pretty sure of this fact).

The more people you have playing the more chances there are that there is some fuctard cheating somehow.

And the Xbox is almost like a PC... It has an operating system , hard drive and many other things that make it like a PC. It isnt that hard to hack or mod an Xbox for these very reasons. Wink

3 things.

1) It is easier to say no Action Replays then saying some are OK.

2) Action Replays are bad. Action Replays are for 2 things cheating and modding games.

3) Bungie is no where near a "legendary" company. 2 well know and good games don't make a "legendary" company.

That is all and have a good day.

Hey Iz,

Thanks for the tutoring on Lockout last night. I think I found a couple of crouch jumps on Backwash...check out the metal structures near the center building, if you crouch jump onto one of the "legs", you can walk up to the top.

Indeed Sensei is right you can't sit here and defend bungie for yet enother quick fix to something they fucked up on.
They should have known in advance soemthing like that was going to happen.

think bungie is blowing hot air.
I bet you are still going to run into modders.
Remember when they were going to STOP STANDBY'ers then they said they couldn't and would just make them not want to do it becasue of the repurcussions?
Remember when they weer going to remove superbouncing and said that it was cheating because it was an exploit. Then they changed their minds.

Bungie is pretty good but they could be ALOT better.

I am done on that subject now so don't other trying to get a respone out of me on it again.

To divert from subject i had a pretty good sniper match a few minutes ago.

Izret just reminded me of the superbouncing mess.

They were going to cure that because it is cheating.  A guy bounces to the top of the map where you can't get to him by ordinary means and snipes the hell out of you.

Of course Bungie now treats it like a feature of the gameplay because they're too inept to actually fix it.

I dont get that. Bungie is a company of say a few hundred people. They are trying to fight against millions of people looking for an edge.

Could they have done some thing better sure OK. But no matter how secure it is people will always find ways to hack it.

If Bungie is so inept why do you play Halo? Why do you call the company legendary?

Actually given the volume of people that are playing the game at any given time, I think bungie is doing a pretty good job. Alot of the problems that we face online: modders, standby haven't been an issue with console gaming until Halo 2. I dare you to think of an online console game that has the constant volume that H2 has. Computer gaming sure, but not console. So sure could they do better, of course. Do cheaters suck? You bet. Are they trying to make it better, damn straight. I guess something is better then nothing. Now I do wish that for custom gaming you could use a AR or Gameshark, but it has to be all or none, otherwise the solution is worthless.
I do understand that modders will still be around as newer hacks are made, but before yesterday 1/3 times I played on turf or warlock I got modded. Since then it hasnt happened. My 2 cents.  :-/

If there was a game equal to it, I would.  The truth is that for whatever reason, I can't find a FPS for Xbox that equals the Halo experience.

I call them "Legendary" because I can't think of a better word.  Revered?  Respected?  Almost worshipped?

They produced a great game, but I think they should've put more energy behind the security of the online experience instead of all the sloppy patches which so far have shown to be less than optimally effective.

Again, I realize that not everyone (or perhaps anyone) will agree with me.

I don't know why I don't play clan based games more. Maybe cause I'm never on when they are on.

Last night, after getting my butt kicked online...again, I decided to look at the "Recent Players" list. When I looked, most of the players had overall rankings in the upper teens and 20's, where I'm only a level 11 max (Rumble Pit), 7 on Rumble Preview (where I was playing). So I thought to myself "No wonder I'm getting clobbered!".

It seems like you're matched based on your ranking in a particular game type, without considering rankings in other game types. So a level 20 player could be a level 1 in Rumble Preview and therefore smoke the competition that's still learning. It doesn't seem to be a balanced way to match up the competition.

I know some of you have pretty high rankings, does it sometimes seem too easy to win matches? Does anyone know Bungie's reasoning behind matchmaking in this way?

Well, how would you suggest they do it?

BTW, look me up.  I'm Sensei Fu on Live, I'll play with you.

Yea.
And even if you see people with a low rank some people downrankk or play on second accounts. I know a guy who a few times a week goes down to the teens and works his way back to the 30s and boosts people along the way.

Alot of people go into one matchmaking setting and rank up alot and then go and work their other rank up.
You will get better the more you play.

So don't worry too much about wins or loses or your rank because it will pan out.
