The Pittsburgh water and sewer authority showed up at my house around 5pm to shut my water off. Turns out a pipe broke and was leaking out in the street - we weren't even aware of it. Luckily there's very little water in my basement. The part that really sucks aside from having no water overnight at least is that they'll probably have to tear up my kitchen floor to fix the problem :\ Anyone else have a pipe break in the winter? Does anyone know if they have to wait till pipes aren't frozen anymore to fix it? I technically haven't had water since last night around this time (2am) cause the pipes froze. It's like -9 here today with the wind.

That sucks big.
I don't know for sure what they can do but the water is already shut off so it being frozen won't matter much.
That is probably why the pipe burst in the first place.

That really sucks. But when it is really cold out it is better to have no water the no power.

Well, it's all fixed. I did have to clean off my car and drive to my dad's at 3am to use the bathroom, that sucked ass.  Turns out there were two breaks and they had to tear apart a wall to get to one. The pipes were just old and the weather didn't really have much to do with it apparently.
