So, is Great Volleyball really all that great? I'm guessing its graphics aren't nearly as eye-catching as the Dead or Alive XTreme Beach Volleyball series.

Well I knew I was buying Hyrule Warriors yesterday but I stopped at a few other places to see what they had.  Goodwill was a bust but 2 different pawn shops got me Monster Hunter Tri and Final Fantasy III on the ds for $10 each.  FF I & I I was stuck in the gba slot.  The other pawn shop had pokemon red, gold, and Kirby for $2 each and git pokemon black for $8.  A very good day of hunting, then I went home to play Hyrule Warriors for the next 6 hours. Yesterday was payday and I had the day off for a doctor's appointment, so while out and about I hit a few thrift stores, one garage sale that was still going, and the only local retro game store with all of this as the result.

The NES titles are from the retro game store:  Journey To Silius, The Jungle Book, Image Fight, Kickle Cubicle, and Venice Beach Volleyball.  I've been looking for Jouney To Silius for a while now, as it's one of my favorite NES games of all time, and it has one of the best gaming soundtracks ever.  The rest were just kind of random pick-ups for my ever-increasing NES collection, which is now up to 232.

The Shrek plug-n-play and the Game Boy games - Malibu Beach Volleyball and Vegas Stakes - came from Goodwill.  The Leapster 2, which was only 50 cents and works perfectly fine, came from a local women's shelter thrift store.  The PS1 games, Metal Gear 2, the Go Diego Go! plug-n-play, the Donkey Kong and Spyro toys, and the Kids Row watch and game combo (which I can find absolutely no info about online), came from the last thrift store I went to, whose proceeds fund alcohol and drug abuse treatment for teens and adults in the area.  The Wheel Of Fortune handheld is the only score from the garage sale, which was otherwise pretty much full of junk, Christmas ornaments, and leftover Easter candy that only God knows how long has been out of date.

Now, I have to get off of here and get ready for the first of another 6 straight evenings of work.

Thank you, Zagnorch, for bringing Dokken to the boards.  Though I wondered if it ever would happen, without my personal intervention, you fulfilled that dream WARRIORS!

I've brought Dokken up before on the DB, but it was likely washed away by the Great Outage of 2012. Their Best-OF CD was what I'd listen to while I played Heretic, an under-appreciated FPS Id put out after Doom, and-- if I recall correctly-- eventually evolved into Hexen.

To get this cheapass to pay full retail for a new game just a day after launch is no small feat, especially when it cut through my hyper-focus on the impending Skylanders release. Thanks to you, Shigeru Miyamoto can buy an extra helping of top ramen on his lunch break today at the Nintendo commissary.

They do have lunch breaks in Japan, don't they?

Heck, I'm almost inspired to write lyrics for a Hyrule Warriors tribute-parody song to the tune of Dream Warriors. We could probably hire Don Dokken to sing it, too! At this point, I'll bet he's willing to settle for a new pair of sneakers and a couple Mickey-D's gift cards as payment.

We're Hyruuuuule waaaaarriors... let's go and 'rule some more...


Okay, that was a dumb idea, never mind. I know, we'll just do a simple cheer, instead:

I got this Donkey Kong Country Cartoon DVD from a small Canadian Company called Phase 4 Films. I love it. Brings back fond memories of my childhood.

I don't have a WiiU but Hyrule Warriors does look fun. Or rather, is sounds fun. I've only heard about it so far, not seen any gameplay.





We went to a different location, the next town over, of that one thrift store we go to, to buy things as an excuse to give them money, today.

Relatively speaking, they had a much more aweso collection of games than our local branch. I didn't even buy everything they had there (which I often do at our normal location.) At one point I had to shoo someone away from going through my stack of games I was building, anyone done that before?

I wonder if Halo 2 will work, or if it will tell me the key is already used.

Space Colony has a cool hologram-ish cover. Sort of like Crash Bandicoot Warped on the Playstation.

I already have the Ninja Gaiden - Worlds of Power book. It will be a gift.

SimPlates 2004 is a add-on for flight simulator games, showing real life approach diagrams.

Dark Forces and Total Annihilation I have already, but you know, lan setups someday.

National Geographic - Plan it Green looks like a SimCity sort of thing with a 'green' bent.


This was all about $12. I don't think they know how to add things up correctly there. Not that I had one of the many calculators Zag has sent me handy, but in my head this should have been more than $20. That's actually common at our branch too. Things are way less than what their stickers say   

In the end it is just more stuff to throw on the random PC game pile upstairs, which will hopefully see more use one day when space permits.

Snagged a few games while out and about and was directed to a new game shop on the edge of town that has a pretty decent Gamecube selection. Picked up a couple sports titles for a buck each and broke down and snagged another Wii U title for 10 since I need something to get me by until SSB4 comes out for the Wii U.

Wow i'm pretty surprised it got a DVD rerelease.
I MIGHT still have one VHS copy left.

I think the VHS was done by Paramount hard to be certain now...
