Gutted my NES today and disabled the NES10 chip, and gave it a very thorough cleaning. It was nice having a game start up first try Smiley

Listened to the All Gen Gamers podcast today

Episode 190:   http://www.allgengamers.c...de-190-the-retro-vgs.html

Mike Kennedy was on and talked about his new project The Retro VGS.

A new cartridge based game console.

Listening to the podcast will give you the best info on the when/where/who/what but it sounds like Mike wants to make a new console, using actual Atari Jaguar molds, which will accept cartridges for new games. They hinted at things like Pier Solar and Shovel Knight. As well as new sequels to old games from the 80's and 90's. A kickstarter is hoped to go up late spring early summer. He was hinting at $150-180 for the console, 2 controllers, a couple of games. Android came up of course. This didn't sound anything like the Retron or things like the Ouya, it sounded like something that would get Crabby to play some new games, Indie and otherwise  Wink

My ps3 has died. It's an original 60gb backwards compatible one. Got the yellow light so has gone off to be melted. Hope it works :-(

Sega Arcade cabs.
Suggested projects should also link to more generic arcade stuff.

I'm not sure if this "exactly" qualifies as Gaming Randomness, but here it is:

Burned myself approximately 16 times trying to fix some standard Colecovision Controllers via soldering, and ultimately failed. Now I have to replace them both of them, and I have no feeling in my right pinkie finger as of this typing due to said burns. Moral of the story? If you think you can fix it, you can't. Tongue

Chicks dig scars...although I'm not sure on their stance on finger scars....just come up with a better story to tell whilst charming the ladies at bars.

Immensely cool. I also didn't know the old LEGO suggestion site still existed. Supported.

I love this channel! DigThatBoxRETRO has all kinds of reviews on stuff posted but my favorite posts from them involve these retro commercials brought back from the depths of dusty VHS boxes and preserving magic like these for the next generation to enjoy.

I wonder... Would an ethernet cable work as a replacement for a SNES or PS2 controller cable?
Not that I would ever actually get round to doing it...

Probably just needs some 20-24 gauge wire.

A bit of Googling seems to suggest that ethernet cables are around that gauge.
